For a long time (might have been since I got the PC, not sure) I've been having this problem. Basically, one in every so many (maybe 40?) Adobe Flash videos I view gives me a atikmpag.sys BSOD.

  • Happens in maybe 1 out of 40 videos
  • Independent of video, I can view the same video 30 times with 1 BSOD and no problems on the other 29 times
  • Independent of browser - happens in IE, Opera, Firefox
  • Happens ONLY on watching flash videos. Gaming, regular browsing, everything else does not produce this problem.
  • Tried unchecking "Enable hardware acceleration" in the Flash settings, didn't help
  • Tried reinstalling Flash, didn't help
  • Updated GPU drivers, didn't help
  • Only seems to happen at the START of the video, or when skipping to a different part. I can't remember it happening while I'm in the middle of watching a video.
  • To reiterate, problem does not happen when watching offline videos in VLC or anything like that.
  • Strangely enough I don't believe I've ever had this problem with Flash advertisements, Flash games or other Flash things.
  • My GPU is an AMD Radeon HD6850 and I use Windows 7 x64.

atikmpag.sys belongs to your graphic card driver

Update your graphic card driver . Just install the driver without the CCC application .

Did that, dxdiag now says I'm using driver version 12.104.0.0 (a quick search reveals that it was apparently released March 28 of this year). Sadly I can't "force" the BSOD so I don't know if it helped. I'll post again if I get a new BSOD.
