Attribute ReadOnly won't reset. Defaut set to blocked out/part check'd

Whenever a new folder is made regardless of which partition or drive its made in. If its the top folder or a sub folder. Even if the folder is emtpy. If theres files in the folder and none of them have this attribute. Lastly there is no hidden system files etc.. The box for the attribute read only is blocked out. Not checked. In quotes next to the box it reads(Only applys to files in folder). Im sure your aware that a blocked out box means not all files within this folder have this attribute status.

The issue i have with the Read Only attribute is that Im unable to unblockout/uncheck the attribute and i have run out of ideas to try that will reset the attribute so the box is unchecked and unblocked out.

What needs to happen that will get it to reset so there is nothing in the box

Having that box "blocked out" is normal for Windows 7.
It has no impact on a folder.

The check box is always like that in folder properties. It does not mean some of the files in the folder are readonly, Windows does not check the files in the folder for readonly status. That checkbox is not a indicator of readonly status on files within a folder.

Well thats good to know. Its been that way longer then i know obviously. It popped out at me one days couple weeks back and and not much attention was given to it until now. Thank you for a quick response and having good news. The attribute is functioning just fine. "If its not broke then don't fix it." a simple rule of thumb to live by.
