I didn't have this problem on vista - attached is an image of the amount of volume output given when using my headphones. The volume is turned up to the max but only a very tiny amount of volume, as shown by the green bar, comes out (I have the volume of the application, in this case a game, turned up to 100%). Can anyone help me fix this? Thanks.

How does that green bar react when you have normal computer speakers plugged in?

The headphones' impedence may not be matching well to the output. Do the green bars go higher w/ speakers attached?

Also, try raising the volume level inside the game itself. This should fix it.

Good Evening.

My audio seemed quieter than normal when i upgraded to Win 7 from Vista, and my music even sometimes seemed to change phase, as if someone was moving my speakers towards then away from me, and from left to right. It was strange, but I found that by disabling all enhancments on the sound card options made it louder and back to normal. I had no boxes ticked, but my clicked 'Disable All...'anyway, it cured my problem.

Here are some steps:
1) Right click speaker icon in bottom left (or Control Panel, Hardware & Sound, Sound)
2) Select 'Playback Devices
3) Right click on the speaker output you are using, usually 'Speakers'
4) Select 'Properties'
5) Click 'Enhancements'
6) Tick 'Disable All Enhancements'
7) Click 'OK'
8) Restart Media Player and any other audio programs open, a system restart should not be require, but should done if sound is still not correct.

Hope this helps you and anyone else who is having issues

I don't have a soundcard, so my headphones icon is greyed out. If I click my Speakers icon(there in Manage Audio Devices-Speakers) and open the LEVEL tab, you CAN raise the volume level. This is a different slider bar window than the four slider bar window you pictured. Anyways, if my Speakers have this tab, I'm wondering why, in YOUR Headphones window, you wouldn't have a tab with similar slider bar to adjust volume and balance as I do for Speakers.

yeah i have tired all the volume options, they are all on full, ive done i feel everything that i can to try to raise the volume up, ive also reinstalled, disabled, enabled it, im now back to using my onboard sound, which is working just fine so there must be an issue with creative soundcard drivers or "card"!

Have you looked to see if there are more up to date drivers for your soundcard? I have found that 99% of these sort of problems stem from driver issues!
