Intel I7 processor, Win 7 64-bit pro. m-audio delta 66 with the latest drivers.

The first time I open IE after a boot up, and load a web page that has sound, audiodg.exe gets executed and reads hundreds of files off of the the hard drive...almost all of them reference amd in the filename.) This process uses a lot CPU and disk IO effectively locking the system for about 30 to 45 seconds.

Once audiodg.exe is done loading what it thinks it needs, the system goes back to normal.

There are no further updated for the delta 66 driver. Not sure if there is something in the registry that could prevent this from happening.

I have a recording studio (Sonar X3 and a Roland Studio-Capture).

If I remember this the Delta 66 is a PCI device. Most newer motherboards that have a PCI slot on them are not a true PCI bus slot but a PCI slot that is bridged to the PCIe bus. This can be a problem for many older PCI devices. I don't know what problem it can cause for the Delta 66, but I've seen discussions on the Sonar forum and the gearslutz forum.

I also see, on forums, that you should be using ASIO and not WDM with this device. I don't know how I.E. handles sound with something other than the standard PC sound, but this could be the issue.

Looking back at some old threads on this forum, one thing that came up is the bits that you have set for the Delta 66. If you use 16 bits/44.1Khz that seems to cause less problems than higher bitrates.

Will have to try that when I'm not recording. Thanks
