Automatic restore point creation failure - possible simple workaround

Automatic restore points are either not being created or being deleted on my pc and I have failed to find out why. Disc Space Usage at 25% (60GB) seems adequate. Task scheduler appears to properly set although I'm not sure about what exactly constitutes "idle" in the Conditions box (though I have now unchecked this condition).

If the problem is failure to create (as opposed to deletion) then I appear to have found a simple workaround (at least for date/time scheduled restore points).

This is to set up your own maual task in Task Scheduler to run the exe. program at a frequency of your choice, simply by copying the program title/script from the Windows SR Task action box.

Welcome

In Windows 7 an automatic restore point is created every 7 days only if no other restore points (manual, before Windows updates, etc.) are created in that time.

Hi
Does that mean created or created-and-still-present?

My Norton Utilities 16' HD defragger deletes all SRPs. There might be other utilities that also delete SRPs for some reason.

Hi
Does that mean created or created-and-still-present?

Created, but whether they remain stored depends on the amount of space allocated to restore points. If the space allocated becomes filled, the oldest restore point(s) will be deleted.

Thanks pbcopter (and roland). It maybe that deletion and not non-creation is my problem, though I don't think its due to lack of space.

It will be interesting to see if my manually created restore points will be deleted.
