Auugh PC will come on but not boot!!!

Have you or do you have another display you can test? I can't recall if that was already looked into.
I have tried another display and it says in the monitor: power saving mode. Idk what to do. [emoji17]

I have an Acer motherboard and it's running on HP I think as CPU. I think the graphics card is Nvida or something like that. And what's PSU? Also, I will just delete the other thread. Sorry.

Boot rom the Windows 7 Installation DVD nd see if you can get graphics then or use a live Linux CD and boot from that and see if the graphics work. Puppy Linux is probably the smallest download http://www.puppylinux.com/

Download the ISO file from another computer and burn it to a blank CD. Then boot from th CD not the hard drive.

If your computer won't even reach POST (Power-On Self Test) and you don't hear the Windows log-on music, then I'd go with motherboard, assuming you don't hear anything on top of the screen not turning on properly.

Lascot mate try this
Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic.
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
PART B:
Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. See pic for example.
If you can boot at all otherwise get a small digital multimeter and test the volts at the 24 pin plug see this
Power supply unit (computer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) test the volts by using the black lead on any of the 24 pin plug's black leads and the red lead on the colours.

Now the volts must be within 5% +/- of the stated rail voltages or the machine will not work correctly if at al. If there is power to the board there should be some LED's that glow anyway but see this

I found out what happened. The guy I got the PC from told me what it was. It was something probably to do with the power supply so he's gonna replace it today. Thanks guys so much for your help and if all goes well with it being fixed I will update you on it if its ok and close this thread.

I agree but it is sometimes faster than going to the techies - unless one knows them very well.

Personally as you pointed out I more often than not look at PSU's first because as Scott Mueller has quoted in his editorials the power supply is probably the most underrated cause of problems that one gives credence to.

I am not sure without ploughing back through this thread if I quoted part of one his books -
Power Supply 101: A Reference Of Specifications - Power Supplies < to read probably the most relevant section go to section 2. "A Reference of Specifications"
