I need help resolving this issue, which I know is directly related to my laptop coming out of sleep or hibernate mode. Upon wake up, the computer either works, or randomly has a BSOD related to the nvidia display driver "nvlddmkm.sys" that has apparently " stopped working ".

Included in this post is the mini-dump from my computer, and below is the Event ID log - I would greatly appreciate any help that could be provided for me. Please let me know if anything else is needed as well.

All of these crashes were caused by the direct x component of your video driver. You should un-install all traces of it and re-install a fresh copy

I would also run a system file check
type cmd in search>right click and run as amdin>SFC /SCANNOW

Let us know the results

Ken

My computer is virtually brand new (I bought it around august 2009 from best buy).

It randomly BSODs coming out of sleep or hibernate (this is the only time), and it's not consistent - the computer doesn't always crash coming out of sleep mode (possibly when its coming out on battery as opposed to running on AC power).

I haven't disabled the sleep and hibernate modes yet because I'm trying to fix this so I can actually use the sleep feature, but if it comes down to it being the only option, I guess I will have to.

I have fairly recent NVIDIA drivers for my gfx card (within the last month) which I obtained from their website.

With the SFC /SCANNOW complete, windows reports that it did not find any integrity violations.

I will attempt to reinstall directX (hopefully), but how would I go about updating those old drivers without knowing what they are for?

I "solved" the problem. To fix the problem, I uninstalled all nvidia drivers, and let windows pick the drivers it wanted. What's weird is that the second set of drivers windows wants to install will cause the problem to come back, so it looks like ill be sticking with the older drivers for a while. Thanks NVIDIA!
