i have searched the web for a newer version but with no luck, does anyone know of a newer x64 version.

Okay, cool. Follow the link that pebbly provided and there should be an option to put in a 'Service Tag'. There should be a sticker on the computer that has the service tag. Some of the drivers aren't always right. I had to get the drivers for the touchpad drivers for the Vostro 1720 to get my touchpad to work right and the Ricoh SD card reader driver came from HP. If you need those or any other drivers that aren't available on the downloads page let me know, and I'll see what I can do for you.
