Could it be that your images are not the proper resolution for your screen, and end up getting stretched?
1208 x 768Well, what resolution is your screen at? Right-click>Screen Resolution.

You are trying to use an image too small for your resolution. It is trying to stretch the image to fill your screen, resulting in the blurriness.
Look online for 1280x768 images. Do some playing around, you may find 1152x864 also look good.
If you are using an image smaller than your res, and the stretch or fill option, it will end up blurring out.
Look online after HD wallpapers, those are insured to look right on pretty much any res.
