My regular laptop is a Win 7 and my secondary laptop is an XP machine. I backup my Win 7 daily and I was wondering if something went wrong with my Win 7 machine, would I be able to restore my files to my Win XP laptop? Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by "restore my files"? IF you mean can you copy your files from the Win7 backup to the XP machine, it depends on HOW you do the backup. I use Macrium Reflect to do all my backups, and it allows me to "mount" a backup image as a "drive" -- thus allowing me to copy individual files from the backup image. If your backup program doesn't allow such mounting, then you won't be able to access individual files from the image.

I use Windows 7 backup and restore program to an external hard drive. Now, if my windows 7 machine died can I restore some or all the files from the external hard drive to my secondary laptop which is an XP machine? Thanks in advance.
