Bad Pool Header and other Problems

Hi folks,

I stumbled over this forums while I was searching for any hints about an actual problem with my hardware. Here is what happend and happens.

- If I start the computer it hangs up at the DOS screen
- If I start the computer it hangs up at the logging screen if I wait too long
- Sometimes the computer freezes during the work
- During the last two weeks the computer restarted when I was opening windows live mail

What I did so far: Reinstalled most of the system drivers (did not work), ran Memtest (not a single error), checked the system for other problems, uninstalled everything I don't need. The System events show a constant problem with the ID

0x8000000000000002

The problem started at the 26th of September but so far I had no blue screen - until today. The message that showed up was

0x00000019: BAD_POOL_HEADER

I followed the instructions at the pinned thread and packed all the files to a zip. For a better system overview I Created also a dxdiag file.

any idea?

Start by installing these updated Realtek Ethernet drivers: Realtek

AVP.exe is reporting a lot of errors, which is the Kaspersky process. Try removing Kaspersky; see this article: Removal tool for Kaspersky Lab products | Kaspersky Lab United States

Replace it with MSE: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

If the problems persist, enable driver verifier: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html

Thanks for the warm welcome

Before the problems went worse Kaspersky crashed several times at the startup. I forget to mention this point at the initial posting. So I've updated the Realtek Drivers, removed Kaspersky, and replaced it with MSE. I'll have a close look at the system stability during the next days.

Hello again,

the changes didn't solve the problem. Although I ran Memtest the problem might be the RAM. Just ten minutes ago I had another BSOD. This time with a complete new error Message directly when I started the PC. And there was one thing I didn't realized until now:

The System said 4096MB

and crashed with the BSOD. I rebooted the PC and now the System says 2048MB at the startup. Same game at the system overview: 4GB RAM, 1,99GB usable. Looks like one of the two bars is over :/

Does it make sense to upload another Dump?

Try pulling out one of the sticks, and just using one. If that doesn't solve the problem, try running just the other stick.

Hi Jonathan, hi all,

sorry for the late reply. During the last weeks I was struggeling with the memory issue. I'v checked the sticks by using just one but it didn't solve the problem so I subtituted both sticks with new ones. Nothing changed so I started searching the worldwide forums. It seems that the memory problem is very popular with this board and from what I've written it is caused by the cooler

I disassembled the whole PC and reinstalled the cooler. Unfortunately without any effort. It took me some weeks to read about the tips and try them all and now I'm a bit perpelexed. I've had no BSDs since I replaced the cooler mid january while the memory was still not avaible but it worked at least... until today. The next BSD appeared. This time another one

Any ideas or tips. I'm at my wits' end...

Hi Jonathan,

SP 1 is already installed. I've checked Ntfs.sys with Driver verifier and had no errrors. Same for all drivers which are not released by microsoft

If the BSODs persist, just upload a new report and we'll go from there.

Roger that. I might disable the pc again and attach a new cooler. Full memory would be nice
