This is my barebones build:

CASE: NZXT Phantom (White) ATX Full Tower
NZXT Phantom PHAN-001WT White Steel / Plastic Enthusiast ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Newegg.com

MB: Asus SABERTOOTH Z77 ATX LGA1155
ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - Newegg.com

PSU: Antec 650W ATX12V / EPS12V
Antec EarthWatts 650W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply (EA650) - PCPartPicker

I figure with this as my foundation I should be set for years to come. Whaddya think?

OS
Windows 7
Yeah. That will last at least 5 years given the current CPU power increase speed.

Although i'd remind you that the socket 1155 is technically a dead end at this point as within a year the socket 1150 will take over and carry all newer Haswell and Broadwell and whatever CPUs. That is, once you put a 3770K on it, that's the end of its upgrade ability as all new processors are socket 1150.

But I really don't see any game able to over-tax a 3770K even in a relatively far future, so... yeah.

Was running Win Xp from a IDE drive. Yeah. Was a pain.
SATA II drive and Win7 and it zips away! Yay!
Yeah, I haven't even built it yet and it's already old technology. Whaddya gonna do? But, as you say, this should do me well into the future. And I assume the latest and greatest cpu's are gonna be 'spensive anyway.

Per a suggestion on another forum, I've changed my PSU to the Corsair 650TX.
