Basic Etiquette for First-Time Posters:

1. Please write in plain English, not SMS-speak.
2. Fill out your System Specs (under the Quick Links menu at the top of the page).
3. Provide us with as much up-front information about your problem as possible.
4. Give Reputation to people who help fix your problem (scale icon in the upper-right of the helpful post).
5. If you solve a problem yourself, please post the solution so others can benefit from it.

You will get much better help if you title your Thread as descriptively as possible.

A title of "Got a big problem here" as opposed to "Latest display driver fails on Acer 3000" may get as many replies, but the people who actually have had that problem or know about it may well pass over your thread to move on to one where they recognize the specific problem.

Think of it as though you are trying to word a billboard to catch the attention of someone who knows your problem.

All the information about your system. If you click on My System Specs in the bottom left of any users post, you will see the details about their set up.

When asking for help with a problem, this makes it easier for others trying to help you to make better suggestions for a solution your issues.
As they can see what hardware you are running.
Rather then spend alot of time figuring it out, and then attempting to solve the problem, we can get started helping much more quickly.

Speccy is for those who are unsure what hardware their PC has, and will help you find this information.

Click your User name to go to your profile, then the system spec tab.
From there, you can edit (fill in) the specs you get from Speccy.

Another hint to add to the previous excellent suggestions:

If someone recommends three things to try in order to solve your problem, try all three. (Unless the first one you try fixes the problem, obviously.) Don't post back and say "I tried "C" and it didn't work", as the likely response will be "What about "A" and "B"?"

It will save you time and aggravation in the long run if you are methodical in trying to fix your problem. It will also make other people much more likely to help you if they know that their suggestions are being taken seriously. Few people will be willing to make more recommendations if they feel that their previous ones were ignored.

My first rule would be to be polite.

Second...Describe the problem clearly.

Third...Say what you have already tried in an effort to fix the fault.

Fourth...Don't panic! Almost all problems can be fixed, though some may take longer than others.

Last...Be patient. The expert in your particular area may not be online for a few days.
