Solved .bat file doesn't work without admin permissions
Hi All,
I have bitlocker and have found a guide to allowing me to right click on the drive to relock it; it is done via a .bat file.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/90815-bitlocker-lock-unlocked-drive.html
Unfortunately this .bat file will only run if I right click on it and 'run as administrator', yet my account is administrator.
Any way to solve this problem so I can simply right click on the hard drive and 'Lock' it?
James

Hello James, and welcome to Seven Forums.
This is normal. An administrator accounts doesn't have elevated rights by default. You will need to provide UAC permission when you run anything elevated (run as administrator) for security reasons. This gives you control over what can run elevated or not.
If you like, the tutorial below may help make what you want to do easier.
"Lock Drive" - Add to Context Menu of BitLocker Drives

Hi Brink,
Thanks for that, I did the tutorial you linked too and it now works.
I cannot understand why this option is not in windows by default? My kids use this computer often and I have 'naughty' pictures (for research
) on a separate hard drive so I need this locked when I walk away from the computer.

I'm not sure why MS doesn't have it by default since it would make it much easier, but I'm glad this was able to help.
