Greetings, fellow Forumeers, this problem is weird! When I plug in my laptop charger I'm getting the message,'Charger connected, batterynot charging'.So,I uninstalled the 'Microsoft ACPI Comp.Con' using Device Manager, restarted the laptop, inserted the charger, and it worked.HOWEVER,at the same time, when I restarted again, all the internet desktop icons had been corrupted & gone white. Aagh! So,next I found the'IconCache.db' file & deleted it. When I restarted again, the icons had been restored, but the battery wasn't charging again! I went through the same procedures over & over.(and over!) The same happens every time.for weeks, and it takes soooo long to do it-Please help! Fenderbender.

Did you ever consider that maybe you need a new battery?

I have a laptop that says, "Plugged in but not charging", and it definitely needs a new battery.

You don't say what the brand or age of your laptop is. For the lack of important information, I can only reply in the most general terms.

There is at least one Brand/Model of laptop that has a known problem in the battery maintenance circuit in the laptop. Even with a new battery installed, it still won't operate properly. The best solution is 'A New Laptop'.

I have a little laptop that I use almost every day, to check my email, and it will go down to the low 90% before the charging circuit will kick in and start recharging the battery. I know it's that way and I just don't let it bug me anymore.

Good Luck Mate!

Just to clarify,I'm using an Acer Travelmate laptop, running Windows 7/32 bit.One switch on this morning,it was not charging, yet again! So,I did as in my first post, deleting the 'Microsoft ACPI comp-con'and restarting. OK,so now it's reading ,'Charging ' again. I also deleted the 'Icon Cache.db.' file once again, but my desktop icons are still annoyingly all white! Why should it do this,so many times? Any help would be gratefully received! Thanks, all.

Check the Power Plan setting.

Could be that the selected Power Plan has become corrupted.

Try changing to a different Power Plan, and see if there is any difference.

Alternatively, from a cmd prompt, type powercfg -restoredefaultschemes, and press enter.
This will restore the Power Plans to their default settings.
