Battlefield 2142 doesn`t work

i can install, patch and load 2142 without any troubles however when ever i try to join an online server it loads for 10 seconds before kicking me stating "failed communication error, Pnkbustr.exe" or something similar. i have made sure i have the latest punkbuster update as well
and help would be appreciated

uninstall punkbuster and download it from the evenbalance site and install it again! this worked for me before?

make sure your PB A and B service is running, look in the services to make sure?? punkbuster did have a lot of issues before but apparantly they fixed the problem! obviously not??:sarc:

I had the same exact problem, game would load then kick me out
all i did was put 2142 in compatibility mode for winxp and it all worked flawlessly
i dont have any issues with it anymore.

Also make sure you have the box checked that allows the game to run it administrator mode.

1) Install Battlefield

4) Install Full Update 1.50 (560 MB)
5) Call for "Mediiiiiiiic"'
Game Runs in Full Mode, no Compatibility or anything else

I re bought BF2142 through the EA download manager thingy a while ago thinking that this would solve the admin issues only to find that it was incompatible with Win 7 64 bit. Fortunately about a week ago I found two updates for the download manager and guess what, works like a dream. Unlike my disc install I can play Northern Strike too!!
An expensive solution to be sure but it does seem to work without any work arounds being involved.

It looks like I am standing in the middle of the ocean and I see silhouettes of mechs and explosions in the sky.
Did the Disc install, Patched to 1.5, installed Northern Strike, then re-patched 1.5.
I tried Disc, NS, 1.5 but NS requires 1.2 before installing and I didn't have any other patches on my machine.
