BCD fails after power off

If I turn off the PSU then BCD fails to initialize and I get a GRUB rescue prompt. So I have to use BOOTICE to install bootloader again. Trying startup repair doesn't appear to work.

Background: I used to dual boot Ubuntu and Win 7 on my HDD and had to use boot-repair a few times to restore GRUB. Then HDD failed and I cloned all contents to SSD apart from linux partition.

Strangely EasyBCD shows an old BCD I used to have and not the current BSD.

I don't understand why BCD would fail on power off. How can I fix BCD properly?

From BCDEdit:

How do you have your dual boot set up.
Through grub bootloader or Windows Boot Manager?
Best practice is non-traditional way.
Win boot manager, pointing to Grub on Linux partition. Win update breaks the grub bootloader on may occasions, I can attest to that being I run Linux and Windows. Since I changed the set up no problems.
Here's a link to Matthew's Video on it.
How to Dual Boot Windows and Linux. ( The Nontraditional way )

My best guess it the old entry is causing conflict with the bootloader & or corruption in the clone from the failed drive.

What have you tried to do to remove the old BCD entry?

I don't. There is no linux partition anymore. It used to be GRUB handling it, then Windows Boot Manager. The only linux on the system is an entry in BCD.

I tried using EasyBCD but it doesn't edit the correct BCD instead an old one cached/copied somewhere?

I supposed I could use BCDEdit but I'm not too bothered about the entry. It's this hidden GRUB that is causing problems.

Would doing this help?

So I have to use BOOTICE to install bootloader again.

Did you use bootice to rewrite the mbr to NT6 and pbr to Bootmgr?
