Belkin F56050 wireless adapter not working

What I just did was to find the .inf file together with the .sys file from my other PC running XP and copied them to an USB stick. (I did so as the extraction the belkin installation does, does not contain any of those - they probably are stored in the 2 .cab files there).
I went to device manager and pointed to the .inf file but it didn't want to take it... not sure about the exact msg but could look it up again....

thats because it is an XP driver, you need to extract the Vista driver, hence 7-zip which should be able to read them

I don't think there is a Vista driver there... as far as I know officially it only supports XP...

Will try 7-zip though, worth a try.

i just checked compatibility checker, and i got "information coming soon" really helpful there....

just one last suggestion, have you tried running in compatibility mode with XP sp2? occasionally you get lucky, other than that im sorry im all out
edit: stupid stupid stupid, gracy i am so sorry, i missed one important part of your post, your using 64 bit, according to the Windows 7 Upgrader advisor it is 32 bit only, im not saying dont give it a go... im just saying be prepared for the worst,

I am so sorry for that, i should have read it properly to start off with

No worries, I was intending to mention it again but for some reason didn't...

yes, I've tried with XP compatibility too but no effect :(

I'm new to Windows 7, a few friends who have been using it for some time now keep saying it is great and compatible with everything they have and use... but to be honest - I haven't had so much trouble installing hardware and software since Windows 3.1 !!!! I also don't really find it any near to "user friendly"! I haven't used Vista either, but compared to XP it is just better looking. Find handling worse. :-/

So has noone been able to run it on a 64bit? Is there no other way... for example virtualizing it somehow as XP...
Would be pity - I have a bigger external antenna attached to it and it works great...
