Hi Mxn

The latest vista Drivers work in Windows 7 (well mine do ! I'm using 5xxx Adaptor), although it did take a couple of reboots to get everything working.

Remove existing drivers and Adaptor Download and install the correct driver for your hardware from here....

Belkin : Support : F5D7050 Drivers

Plug in your adaptor only when instructed to by the installer.

reboot and enter any pass phrase using the network icon in the tray.

If not working reboot again and should be ok

I have the same adapter, but none of these solutions have worked for me. I have installed the latest driver in compatibility mode and have tried restarting a few times, but no luck.

Under "Devices and Printers" the state of the adapter is "not working properly" and the only solution according to troubleshooter is to reinstall the driver. Doing this does not solve the problem.

Does anyone have any idea to fix this?

Thanks!

After you install the drivers you have to go into the device manager and update the driver for the device just browse to yourdrive:\Program Files\Belkin\modelnumber and it will install the drivers. I had to do this after running the setup for my belkin device.

Hi,

I installed Windows 7 earier today, and I have a Belkin Wireless G USB adapter, and I've tried installing the version 3 drivers, installing them in compatibility mode, and rebooted my PC stupidly often (between every new attempt and uninstall of previous attempts) but to no avail. Windows can't find the drivers, does anyone else have a potential solution, and could you tell me where the Windows 7 folder which houses drivers is? And is there a way to manually select the folder which contains the driver?

Thanks.

Right click on computer go to properties and select device manager and then do a driver update on the faulty device and browse for the drive containing the drivers and hopefully that will work.

Thanks, that didn't help but I sorted it, after fiddling with different drivers, it turned out there was a file left over from the 1st installation which meant the correct vista-compatible drivers didn't work, but after sorting that and running it in compatibility mode again it worked.

compatibility mode: the key

Yes was a bit of a faff, but cheers for the info. I found V 5.0 belkin F5D7050 drivers worked - I didn't cotton-on at 1st that it was the actual install file (f5d7050v5.exe) which I had to right-click and set to vista compatibility mode (for all users also) - then it worked.

Win 7's nice, more minimalistic and straight-forward than vista (like xp) and of course IE8 being bundled, it all adds up to a great-to-have OS. Using it on a nearly 6 year-old machine (2.2Ghz AMD) and runs fine but is slow to boot up (can't have it all)!

Version 3 worked

Thanks to all in this thread. My Win7 has been crashing several times and I hope it was because of the Belkin driver (I was originally using version 1 of this particular driver). I was able to install version 3 after reading the posts, so far so good!

I may try to switch the download file of version 5 to vista compatibility to see if that might work, but I will see if my system is stable first.

Thanks again!:D

Hi Timbu, and welcome to the Seven Forums

You should be careful with the driver that you use as they are specific to the actual hardware in use in the adaptor.

Belkin, (and others ), have a habit of changing the component type and source while retaining the same product number. The actual adaptor has a compliance code issued by the FCC and printed on the adaptor, if you go to the Belkin driver page you should see a list of which driver you require based on the FCC reference - install that one and you should have no issues

Thanks for the info

Barman58, thanks for the info. I am running the Belkin version 3 but it shows up as version 1. Anyway, I think I am using the right one.

My computer crashed again. I don't think it is related to the Belkin driver anymore. I will continue to look at other issues.

I had a bit of a problem when trying to install my Belkin Wireless G USB. But I sorted it by going into Device Manager -> Update Drivers -> Manual Install, and then selecting the location as my disc drive. If you use the location shown below on your disc, it should be able to pick the drivers up straight off the disc. Since there seems to be a problem if you install straight off the disc, the files aren't unpack properly, but this method seems to work.

discselectlr5.jpg

It then gave me an error about not being able to start the device (it was already plugged in) but I just unplugged and replugged it in. And it worked perfectly, so you don't even need to download the drivers, just use the current ones on the disc.

Sloooooooow
Did you run the Belkin istallation disc?

Is that where the drivers came from? I'm thinking so.. what you are saying is that the Belkin installation is not properly unpacking its drivers then.

Interesting.
