Hi guys, ive been looking for the best protection for my laptop.

After some research i found out avast internet security was my best choice but i think its a little heavy for my computer and i heard its better to have separate programs work in their specialty.

For example i heard Malwarebytes is the best antimalware program and i just downloaded it but now i need an antivirus... should i stay with avast free version? and let antimalware do the rest of the job?

Many people told me MSE is the lighest antivirus and its free but i heard alot of bad things about it too, specially his innabilty to identify/delete viruses. And finally one more question, if i stick to avast free version and Malwarebytes pro is there anything else i need?, avast internet security warms me everytime a website is trying to atack my pc... if i switch to avast free version and malwarbytes what is going to warm me when websites are full of viruses?.

Thanks alot.

I use Avast! (free), Malwarebytes Pro, and the built-in Windows Firewall on all my systems/installs. It should be pointed out that no anti-malware program is perfect, but I have had no problems with that combination.

alikhan Your little kitty in your Avatar has had way to much coffee.

Oh, it's the kitty? I just thought it was my old eyes.

All seriousness aside , I use the free version of Avast! (I had a bad experience with MSE), MBAM, SuperAntiSpyware (SAS), and Zone Alarm's firewall. Avast is a bit top heavy but it's far more reliable. One can always turn off features one doesn't want or need to lighten it up a bit. One can also set how often it looks for updates, turn notifications on and off, turn the audio for notifications on and off (I personally hate it when a machine talks to me), etc. It's flexibility leaves MSE in the dust.

I also use a browser add-on called Web of Trust (WOT) to warn me if I'm going to a dodgy website. Avast! has a similar function but it's still new compared to WOT and hasn't really had enough time to receive as much input as WOT has yet. I run both side by side and haven't noticed any slowdown from it. The Avast! function can always be turned off.

As everyone has pretty much stated it is all personal preference and nothing is 100% perfect.

I personally use MSE and Malwarebytes and have had no problems what so ever. Also if you are worried about Avast being too heavy, take a look at AVG AntiVirus. It is a great program and is fairly light. I used to use it a while back but I have just gotten lazier these days with my antivirus. I haven't had any problems yet...nock on wood.

Hi guys,I think it's better for you to try several antivirus+antimalware licensed version combinations, because they work together[with maximum protection ofcourse] and make conclusion independently,so you can compare their results with eachother and another antivirus+antimalware licensed version combinations as well and after this, you can make best decision about what kind of antivirus and antimalware you should choose :)
As for me,I always try to test different antivirus+antimalware combinations and then compare with eachother. :)
For the moment, I have ESET SMART SECURITY 6 +MALWAREBYTES PRO WITH LATEST UPDATES + MAXIMUM PROTECTION AND I CAN ONLY SAY THAT THE ANTIVIRUS AND ANTI MALWARE SOFWARE WORK TOGETHER PERFECTLY AND I AM FULLY PROTECTED FROM VIRUSES OR OTHER THREATS :):cool::cool:

MSE, MBAM Pro and common sense when surfing online work best for me. I have tried several other AV programs, including a paid "suite". I had problems with Avast and Norton. I always come back to MSE. It works best on my system, works perfectly well with MBAM Pro and it is designed to integrate with my OS. MSE and MBAM are both extremely light on resources too.

Curious. I've never had a problem with AVAST!'s free version but I did have problems with MSE (couldn't automatically update and was letting tracking cookies in).
