Best Buy to close stores and cut jobs.

See the problem here is a government problem. Corporations eventually get into government, that's where the monopolies come from. Eventually you see what's happening in America and Europe where the government is so heavily dependent on campaign money and various other contributions from these entities that they really can't function for the people. This is what we call a bought congress/parliament It's not really through any fault of their own, they are human after all. It was supposed to be up to us 'the people' to remind them they are there to serve us, not so we can serve them. We keep dropping the ball on that one.

Don't get me wrong on this note though.
I am not suggesting that I don't think people should benefit from their work. I only humbly suggest that there may just possibly, be another way.

That being said I've completely lost faith in the monetary system itself. I see examples all the time of how a world could work without it. I mean look at wikipedia, sure it has its' faults but no one really argues it's pretty much our encyclopedia galatica at this point. All those people, all those minds, all that information, all that work; none of them were being paid. Sadly very few people see Wikipedia for the accomplishment it actually is. Not that I would be incredibly worried as governments around the world work tirelessly to pass laws restricting the sharing of information online, in total opposition to what the ...well the people of the world want in this specific instance.

I wish my intellect was sufficient that I could come up with a alternative that would have any viability in reality, it would appear that it is not though.

Don't get me wrong, I consider myself in good company on this.
Since apparently communism, socialism, capitalism, and even theocracy all lead to the same pyramid scheme once they are released on a world that we should just all admit right now is run purely on jealousy, hate, and greed.

...the entire species needs a padded room apparently, jacket optional.

You can not possibly hope to solve a problem while you are in denial about the cause so I do say these things when I see them as true.
Just keep in mind I myself am merely another member of this species in need of a padded room.

We may very well have much in agreement since you go from the government to the species. We are the problem and will taint even that which began with good intentions.

Anyway, I don't want to wax too political or philosophical lest I be reprimanded for getting away from the topic. :)

Back to the topic at hand. ====== Someone above mentioned the great accomplishment Wikipedia is. It truly is. One day I happened to look up my high school and there was a rather large article in Wiki on it. It told the famous people who had graduated. Well, I just couldn't resist. In the list of famous people, I put my name and listed some stupid accomplishments. It was less than two hours before someone in the management (I guess that is the right word) caught it and removed everything about it. That in itself is pretty amazing that it was caught so quickly.

Don't ever use walmart as an example of a business. They use corrupt methods, generally their stores are built with taxpayer money. They are not the great capitalist success some people seem to think. They cheated and went outside the rules and continue to do so today. They represent everything that is wrong with our economy. Government favors killed the free market a long time ago though.

Exactly That is why i mentioned them ,I was a employee a Manager if you will I already know the whole system is whack

I used them as a example because they are the only one's hanging in there and there not doing it by playing by the rules and that my friend is called a Monopoly which alot of people don't get it that Walmart has become just that !
walmart has a monopoly in my town they wont let them build a Target here they pay them to not build it here lool So if i want to go to target i have to go to the city next to my town.

There are several small towns here in texas that are nothing but empty main streets with a giant walmart at the top of the hill. Once one town is dead they just leave the giant building there and have the next town or city build them a replacement.

Oh well maybe we can all use those big empty buildings for shelter when the stuff hits the fan.

Went to bestbuy today and it seemed pretty busy today, got me a skull candy headset that was on sale for 38$ when they usually cost 50$ at regular price even cheaper then the sale they have on there official site which they are being sold for 41.95 so I saved a couple dollars getting them at best buy. Bought these and they have good sound and are sufficient enough for what I use them for. 2011 Hesh Black/Gray

...Personally I would love to see microcenter about double its number of stores....
Same here. That said, however, I don't like medium and even small stores going out of business in favor of large corporations which then gain a virtual monopoly, albeit MicroCenter could well be a dinosaur because of those things spoken of in this thread; a good reason for MC not to double its store number.

It's interesting that in the same block that the one MicroCenter in Michigan is on there is a small computer store. I suspect it continues to exist through service to a small clientele they've built perhaps for custom builds.

I don't live very far from that MicroCenter, and I've been there many times. I've always wondered about that small computer store nearby and how the two can coexist (came to the conclusion that, like you said, probably revolves around service and custom systems).

I can somewhat relate to the criticisms that I've read here about Best Buy. Sometimes it seems like when you want to be left alone, they pester you, and the opposite is true when you actually do need help. Once when I bought a camcorder, they were shocked that I didn't want the extended warranty, and I had to really convince them that I wasn't interested in that.

But then I can think of some positive aspects as well. I've spent my share of money there, buying certain items. Staff there was mostly friendly. My family decided to go with them for our recent home theater setup; the guy came over and installed everything, and we didn't have any problems.

Seems like we can never predict the effects things are going to have when our culture evolves and changes.

I would love to get used to that. There are obvious fundamental problems with our society and people do seem to be getting rather fed up with them. I'm just waiting for them to wake up to the next step and stop getting their information from the people who are screwing them.
