After they got bought-out, they raised their prices and priced themselves out of the market. The only thing I've purchased from them since then was a dishwasher because they had the model I wanted in stock. And I needed it right away!

I agree, their PC hardware and accessories really took a nose dive some years ago. Cost control most likely.

only reason I don't buy at best buy often is because everything there is like twice as expensive and they try to sale for more then what the product is worth usually like 30-100$ more. Which is why I shop at amazon all the time now. Only good thing they have in my opinion is there warranties they offer.

I haven't been to Best Buy in a long time, but I rather like the idea that I could if I wanted to. I wish those articles listed exactly which stores are going to close, because we only have one locally.

There's a few Australian retailers (Dick Smiths, WoW, Clive Peters) somewhat similar to best Buy which are closing down to due to pretty much the same reasons.

The rest are now scrambling to gain an 'online market' element.

It makes one wonder if buying online will always be a place to find better prices? At least local stores gives one a baseline for comparison.

Its really unfortunate all those people are going to lose their jobs. I hope, however, that will make the receiver I want be even more discounted.

Here in California and several other states we have Fry's electronics and they serve this in stock and discounted need very well with the exception that the store is huge and getting to the section you need and then actually finding the product is ..........fun. I use that term loosely but it somehow adds the experience, some stores actually have lines to get in and almost always a line to check out !

While I do buy some stuff off the Internet, I sometimes prefer to see it first hand or get it immediately. I'm rather tired of all of the local stores going out of business...but it's just the nature of the economy these days.

it's sad when you know more about pc's than the sales reps - even applied a couple times with a resume, hmm.

I used to buy all my electronics there - camera's, ext HDs my last computer, monitors, car stereo (with installation) because I'd find a good deal and roll with it, plus I prefer having the product much more quickly compared to waiting for an online purchase

but since prices are still up and the sales staff sinking in quality, I've all but boycotted them

Space ship? The Fry's closest to me has a train motif. While another close to me was one of their earlier stores and didn't really carry any theme.

LoL I used to hit up the Burbank store all the time heheheh

Fry's baby my spot as for Best buy like everyone says very overpriced

Even Virus protection is like a extra 30 bucks from normal virus software and has best buy bloatware all over it

I made them lower there prices when i found the same virus protection at walmart for more then half the cost they were angry at me but seriously who cares im not trying to throw my money away and i will always want Bang for my Buck

Unfortunatly the best part of best buy is there car audio department other then that most of there selection blows B*lls

I do have one more positive thing about best buy I bought my 22 inch Envision from there in 07 Damn thing is still running roughshot over my newer vizio

@Mr Pc Seriously a few well know computer stores have a few strays going around acting like they know a thing or two and you look at them puzzled by the answers they swear by I just chuckle to myself and nod politly then come here for some real help lol

Some store workers seems High when there working cause they always have a duh look on there face for a simple Question but yet they swear there one of the best Techs in the store chucklesville

Me too, I use Best Buy as a last resort. It's not good for the local merchants that the internet has become the discount, no state tax, free ship answer to almost all of our needs. But in this economy where any extra money has to be spent wisely then why wouldn't you get the same items for the least money? My wireless router suddenly gave up the ghost and I was forced to go get another, I ended up spending almost 30% more and it did leave me with a bad after taste but it was way more important to get my home based business back on line ! But you don't forget these things and it's catching up with Best Buy.

Well if they go out all the way I hope they don't pull that Circut city crap saying everything is marked down and still higher then stores with out sales

I remember when the one by my folks went down they had signs 60-50-40 % off you get inside the price for a spindale of dvd's back then was like 15 bucks they were charging 25 im like this is a sale ?

Everyone walked in and walked out if your going to make a sale Make sure it is really a discount i felt they said that crap to draw people in and still everything was way over priced Obviously they didn't learn anything and went Belly up

only thing I buy at best buy is when I need a new headset because I can get a one year warranty. So if they blow out I can replace it without any questions, already went through like 2 turtle beach sets and some other brand i forgot what it's called in a single year lool Warranties are good imo there
