Best free firewall

I heard that if you are using free anti-virus, that it is better to use the free Zonealarm firewall then the WinXP firewall.

Why is that? Is it because the Zonealarm firewall is more configurable or user friendly?

It's all a matter of what type of risky situations you put yourself into. I'm not a risky user...and I use free AV (MSE) and I use the Windows firewall features and I leave UAC on. Works just fine for me, and keeps my computer running. No problems.

I agree with PParks1 & The Howling Wolves

Windows Firewall (WF) has come along way since XP, I no longer feel the need for third party firewall applications when using Windows 7 when it's WF does more than enough.

But having said that, the only third party one I'd ever go back to & recommend is Comodo, in their latest version it's very simple to use & setup.

I'm currently using MSE, MBAM, WF & CCleaner (For getting rid of junk/temp files).

I've yet to encounter a single problem since switching to WF & MSE.

Zone Alarm is not usable for most on Windows 7 64bit.
Causes crashes and BSOD's.

Zone Alarm has of yet to get the bugs out of their firewall to be compatible.
