Which one is the best Media Player
You might be asking yourself this, we'll im here today to tell you of the Top 3 you should definitely have a look at.

#1 - VLC Media Player
This Media Player is most likely one, if no the, best media player ever created.
It can play almost any media format right now and is both lightweight and portable.
With no things like no need for extra codecs, VLC can do many things.
It can be used as a streaming media server or for playing DVD’s and even as an audio decoder.
vlc_media_player_217.jpg

#2 - Media Juke Box
Even though MJB is not the smallest amongst media players its certainly one of the most feature-filled.
There's very little that this media player can not do.
It's an all-in-one media player, music collection organizer, iPod connector and music store with extreme tagging techniques.
J._River_MEDIA_JUKEBOX-screenshot.jpg

#3 - Winamp
Alot of people has used Winamp atleast once before in their lives, and with all right. It is a fully fledged media player which has plugins, support for your own internet radio, flash support, ability to sync with your iPod aswell as many other cool features.

Winamp comes in a free version and a pro version. The pro version is like a premium version, which costs money.

That's all i had to offer in this thread.
Over and Out, P1raten.

If I had only one player, it would probably be VLC. I like the snapshot function. Makes nice pictures from HD videos.

VLC is my default Windows media player.
My only criticism is the lack of help/document. Maybe I look in the wrong places.

I still use music CDs and back them up as .bin/cue files. It would be nice to play them without mounting a CD drive.

I Use Media Classic Player for videos, i tweak it so it plays anything, it is lighter (imo) and definitely take less MBs as compared to VLC. For music Foobar, better sounding and no useless bloatware.

foobar2000 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Devoloped by Peter Pawlowski (who was in the team who developed winamp years ago) I love the icon, interface everything. Installs within seconds, takes only 7-8mbs, compare that to winamp!

Yep i know about the icon. The latest version is snappier with white icon which i am using. Thanks for the info about deviant art but i don't like to get into too much tweaking as i format and install entire OS atleast once a month lol. "BTW there is no such thing as the "best" in anything. You can always practice on the portable version of foobar and keep it on a separate partition, so you wouldn't have to reinstall it all the time.
BTW once a month? o.O

Wait how is foobar better sounding?

This is from the foobar website

Does foobar2000 sound better than other players?

No. Most of “sound quality differences” people “hear” are placebo effect (at least with real music), as actual differences in produced sound data are below their noise floor (1 or 2 last bits in 16bit samples). foobar2000 has sound processing features such as software resampling or 24bit output on new high-end soundcards, but most of the other mainstream players are capable of doing the same by now.

I use foobar too, btw.

I don't know. It definitely sounds better (specially after equalizer tweaking) than windows 7 WMP.

Hi there
I use VLC for DVD / Video (works on both Linux and Windows) and I have a Squeezebox Duet (and Internet radio) for playing Music -- It has good Optical Output for plugging into a high quality amp and will among others play FLAC directly - no transcoding needed.

For Digital Terrestial TV (DVB-T) with a TV card the Windows Media centre is fine

The good thing about Squeezebox is that you don't even need your computer on to play music - although to access your Music folders you need the computer to be on.

People want to be able to access music wherever its stored so tying yourself into a particular application isn't alwways a good idea.

BTW Squeezebox works on Linux too.

For me problem with VLC is after all this time it still doesn't have a "resume" feature. I frequently don't watch a movie all the way through in one setting. It's a hassle having to remember where you left off when viewing it multiple times.
