1. OK, have attached my programs list.
2. I will give this a try next and post the arn on my google drive
3. The speccy post was done with Chrome installed and in use. I may have had up to 8 tabs open.
4. I use McAffee which is provided by my ISP, I could try Bit defender but do not wish to support Kaspersky. When you say my Antivirus is poor, are you saying McAffee isn't a good choice? I was using Microsofts free Anti virus before McAffee. Not sure how much Bit defender is.
5. OK, IO am using Microsofts Firewall protection.
6. I don't use my PC for gaming or visual effects My Graphics card should have been sufficient for this but it has never worked correctly even when new. Dell was supposed to provide a better level of support on their XPS series pcs. I no longer buy Dell. (Rant over)
7. I use Java for my Universal Devices Home Automation controller. I can uninstall the 32 bit version and didn't realize I have both installed.
8. I recall chrome giving me a message that I had to install flash within the last 6 months to view something on the web. I can uninstall.

10. I hate IE, if it can be removed, I have no use for it. I guess you called it "disable" and I am good with that.
11. I have the Full Adobe Acrobat Package installed as I like to work with PDFs. I don't need the reader. Not sure how that impacts what you were mentioning about Chromes ability to view PDFs.

Looking at the arn file, you may want to use Foxit reader instead of bloated Adobe. Use Revouninstaller to uninstaller Abobe.

Do you need or use Java? If not, uninstall.

You have a Spotify web helper. Try running Superantispyware and see if that gets rid of it. If not, uncheck it under the login tab in Autoruns. But it may start again.


Dashlane is cloud-based. I don't trust the cloud myself and just use Keepass. Backup its database to flash storage or optical media every once in a while.

McAfee is not that great IMO. As to an alternative try Bitdefender Free.

It looks like you have two cloud providers, Google and Apple. That may pose a problem. Since you use WinSCP, I believe it can handle S3 Amazon buckets so that might be a better option. Alternatively there's CrossFTP.

12. Such problems in chrome are also associated with installed plugins, extensions, apps, etc. There is a way to ''reset it to default settings'' and watch speccy, etc. from time to time. Or you can also try disabling them one by one to see which one is causing the problem. - OK, I have reinstalled Chrome
13. Did you ever clean 'chrome browser history' from within chrome settings. I am not talking about cCleaner. You would be properly running it from time to time. This is in addition to that & you may get surprised as i was! ''History > clear browsing data > advanced > Time range > all time " Not to use any Registry cleaner, not even the one in cCleaner. - Will do this today. I have not done this in quite a long time.
14. Always maintain distance from so called performance enhancers !

16. I suppose you have done the two things : set windows update service to manual & set windows update to never check for updates. - yes this was already done several days ago and remains that way.
17. Check for extensions by typing 'chrome://extensions' in the chrome tab address bar & report.
18. check for chrome extensions in ccleaner as well & report.
19. we will also try to go in chrome advanced settings & boost it.
20. keep away from unsuitable password manager programs. Are you suggesting Dashlane is unstable?

I will uninstall McAffee and try Bitdefender Free. I didnt see the free version on the manufacturers site when I looked yesterday. There was a trial version.

I paid a lot for Adobe and still have 5 years paid for Dashlane. I have many PCs and the Cloud Based sync works very well, understanding the security risk. I would prefer to keep these two applications if possible.

I think I did take it otherwise. I appreciate the help but you didn't mention the expectations required for the help before hand so how could I know I wasnt meeting expectations. On a positive note, I took immediate action on "Please Wait" and have not done anything with the Antivirus.

You did not hurt my feelings, however I do not demand fast support from this site or any support at all for that matter. I have found people on this forum very knowledgeable and helpful in the past. I believe folks help here, because they enjoy doing so. You most likely help because you enjoy helping too, but if you need responses within a certain period of time from your posting, maybe you should state that up front. I may have put this at a higher priority or I may have said thanks but I am looking for a casual response to get through this on my own timeline.

On the topic of answering all of your questions. Please understand that some of your items may not have made sense to me at the time of reading, Others may have been opinions that I have no way of knowing if they are good or bad. So if you are saying you only help people who fall in line with the same opinion you have, than the level of helpfulness you provide may not be as valuable as you think to all.

So, yes, I marked this thread as solved because I would rather figure it out on my own at this point.
