BF4 PC... is it out yet? is anybody

:ditto: I have heard that from COD games but not BF. BF3 did not have a native VOIP so you never get that. I think BF4 does but I think you could disable it. I don't want this thread to turn into a BF vs COD thread, I like both games

I only have a few hours a day to play and enjoy a game, I really don't want to waste it screaming at the monitor because I can;t even get out of the hole or listen to 12 yr old kids screaming in my ear cussing their hearts out... :D

I guess I will wait for CoD Ghosts then.

Honestly, that sounds more like CoD than BF's crowd to me. It's worse on consoles either way, but BF players tend to be older. The more open maps of BF lend themselves to better survival rates as well. You're less likely to get stuck in a hole with some asshat sniper who's plugging up a bottleneck in a map or get stonewalled by a team that's set up a killbox.

Even if you do find yourself getting stuck on a bottleneck or wandering into a killbox, you can just use explosives to make a new route or try a different angle of attack.

CoD's levels are pretty linear, essentially 'rooms' with fixed corridors and passages that can't really be altered and stay the same with every playthrough. Defensive and offensive strategies don't change much once you know the layout of the maps.

BF is much more fluid and open to changing tactics and no two matches play the same way. There is no getting 'stuck' in a bottleneck in that game. You simply blow a new passageway with some explosives and go on your merry way.

It's the only game I can think of where you can eliminate an annoying sniper that you can't quite pinpoint simply by leveling the building he's nesting in, or make your way around an opposing team's killbox by blowing a few walls out of the way to avoid it.

CoD is a game for the masses, it's the game every thirteen year old troll on the internet gets for Christmas or just because they beg for it enough because their parents buy it to shut them up, either because they're ignorant of what the 'M' rating means, or simply because they don't really care and are too lazy or too buffaloed by their kids tantrums to say 'no'.

Yeah, some of the little brats get BF too, but CoD is the big fish in that pond. It's the big game to have because 'all the other kids have it'.

I haven't played BF in a long while, but I haven't run into more than a small handful of obnoxious twelve year old kids or found myself repeatedly killed every five seconds because of map restrictions. When I died it was my fault, and I was usually playing with adults when I went online.

I do admit that CoD Ghosts looks decent. However, if I do play it [and I probably won't], I probably won't get into MP. If I decide I want to waste a few hundred hours online I'll probably end up with BF 4 later this year.

Right now, I've got too many other things backlogged and I wouldn't play it. I stopped caring about CoD years ago. They aren't horrible games, but got a little too much like Madden. Not enough new because they're shoveling out a game or two every year and essentially just doing minor updates and texture swaps.

:ditto: I have heard that from COD games but not BF. BF3 did not have a native VOIP so you never get that. I think BF4 does but I think you could disable it. I don't want this thread to turn into a BF vs COD thread, I like both games

You are correct, and again I forgot to post that tidbit of a fact... my sons (+ 18) play CoD online and that is all I hear and see, kids with the 50 sniper rifle and a dot optic doing close quarter combat  or kids dropping F bombs to others left and right.

Then again I did tried to get into the MP a few times and with other older shooters but it was almost impossible. Again, this was a few years ago and I just got complacent and learn to have a better time playing the Campaign. I am more of a loner so even if I have a squad, I try to get away from them unless is mandatory, like a sync shot or something (Gawd, I hate to be taken by the hand and told when to press a button ) but this is why I can enjoy dying as much trying to get through the level by hoping to go slow instead of the hurry-up way they want me to do so. :p

Never! You're waiting on hard copy?
If it fails to turn up you can get it cheaper here Steam, EA Origin, Uplay, Xbox Live CD Keys / Codes | SimplyCDKeys
All the BSM lad's bought it from there with no issue's. Once you pay for it they email you a link to their auto key dispenser type thing where you'll get an image of the prod key which you activate in Origin.

You'll enjoy it thoght mate

I pre ordered from GMG, checked my account this morning and it says dispatched so hopefully it'll turn up today. Unlike Batman Arkham Origins which I pre ordered from Tesco Direct and it still hasn't turned up.

I thought Greenmen gaming did digital downloads as thats where i bought BF3 from when it didn't turn up on time from Amazon.
If its at all possible i would just get it from simply cd keys and then get a refund from GMG.

I ordered from there as it was the cheapest at the time with the China Rising expansion, and I'm pretty sure it was a hard copy. If it doesn't turn up today I'll just get a digital copy and sell the hard copy when it arrives.

What browser are you using?

It runs well on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox [but not Waterfox]. It runs, but might have issues with IE 9 or 10, and will not run on Safari or any version of IE older than IE 9. As far as I know, it's not compatible with IE 11, but I'm not certain of that. I do know it's not optimal as IE has issues with the game even though it will run on IE 9 or IE 10 most of the time. BF 3 & 4 are not compatible with any 64bit browser. I know that for certain, it must be running on a 32bit browser.

Try running it with Firefox or Chrome if you're not already doing so. They will both run the game for certain and are the recommended browsers to run the game with. I recommend Firefox because Chrome sucks.

I made the mistake of trying to run it in Waterfox when I first got it and ended up with the same error and the endless loading issue. I reinstalled Firefox as I had removed it once I switched to Waterfox and ran it with regular 32bit Firefox and it worked great right away. I still use Waterfox for everything else. BF 3 is the only reason I keep Firefox on my PC as it's the only thing I ever use it for anymore and it's not given me a lick of trouble since.

Waterfox mostly.
relented and gave in - thought I'd give Origin another go..
went out and bought Deluxe version - nice metal box
even splurged out on the Prima guide

BUT - same old problem as with BF3:

View attachment 291978

cyclic error - won't "continue"
just keeps on going round in circles
asking me to download and install the plug-in

looking thru the forums is no help
lots of people getting the same problem

still no solution posted..
I don't think EA gives a hoot, as long as they've got your cash.. :o

And I can only play the Campaign game if I'm in offline mode
with the disk in the DVD slot..
THIS IS VERY VERY ANNOYING..!!

still, the box looks lovely on the shelf - BAH!! :mad2:

Ya know i don't remember having to download the plugin for BF4 but i maybe wrong. All i did was go to the BF3 Battlelog and click the little tab to open BF4 Battlelog.

The new maps are super nice looking but there have been a few occasions where i've stopped to look at the map detail and got pegged by a sniper because i wasn't paying attention

@Paul, I bet thats a proper wind up enit mate :(
