BF4 PC... is it out yet? is anybody

Yeah definitely give Firefox a go, it works with no problems for me.

yeah, for sure it runs beautifully on Google Chrome..

but, why the heck won't it run on Internet Explorer..
it's a bit much when you have to install a different browser just to play a game..
there has to be a solution out there somewhere..?

Internet explorer protected mode is probably turned on, using 64 bit tabs. Disable it, and well it works.

But re-enable it later


Also really curious about everyone's thoughts on this game. I only liked battlefield bad company 2 because the destruction was actually good. Battlefield 3 was horrible. I hated the blue tint on everything, and the destruction was barely there. Only certain things were destroyable.

Is battlefield 4 like the 3rd one? I hope not.

I still recommend sticking with Chrome or Firefox. EA's site says that IE is prone to more errors and glitches than either of the other browsers. To quote "With IE the game will run, but may have 'issues'." Not sure why, but the game is less stable on IE for some reason. EA actually recommends Firefox or Chrome to play it.

It never hurts to have a backup browser anyway. Some websites and plug ins are kind of picky about not liking certain browsers for some reason, so it's a good idea to have more than one anyway. Plus, a browser isn't exactly a huge file. So it's not a huge drain on resources to have another for certain applications.

As I said before, it must have a 32bit browser and will not run at all on a 64 bit browser.

Yes, it's like BF 3, but you can destroy a little more this time. Basically it's the same thing though. BF 4 is just a slightly updated version of the BF 3 engine.

DICE has said that BF 5 will focus on adding more destruction capabilities. For BF 3 and 4 they sacrificed some destructive capabilities to make it look better. It wouldn't have been able to run on the vast majority of gaming PCs, much less consoles, if they had allowed everything to have destruction physics as in previous games. They're focusing on getting back to that in the next game according to the Devs.

According to DICE, this generation's iteration was more about 'updating the engine's visuals to today's highest standards', and the next gens iteration will be about giving you the ability to destroy more again.

Yes, it's like BF 3, but you can destroy a little more this time. Basically it's the same thing though. BF 4 is just a slightly updated version of the BF 3 engine.

I don't know to be honest, I've found a fair few differences in BF4 to BF3, mainly in the weapon handling. They feel completely different and the effects of different attachments (barrels, grips etc) are much more pronounced with accentuated recoil making them more difficult to master. The game feels snappier too and the weather systems are drastically improved.
While the game play itself is pretty much the same, I think there are enough differences to set it apart from its predecessor. Between the people I know who are playing it there has been a Marmite effect, some love it and some hate it. Personally I love it.

was getting a lot of dropped server messages from the Google Chrome entry
so I switched to Firefox - the game runs fine - lovely graphics, but it seems
that Origin are having problems with their servers..

guess it's teething problems with the new game, but it's very annoying..

BTW: the scenery looks a bit like what you find in Skyrim or Farcry - looks very different to BF3

I was just commenting on the destruction, which seemed to be the main issue with andrew129260's post.

There have been graphical improvements and they've tweaked and improved some of the gameplay, but the destruction level is pretty much the same as BF 3. It's not a completely new engine, but just a slightly tweaked version of the same engine BF 3 was running on. The larger destruction events are really triggers and not dynamic, and there are a lot of indestructible surfaces in the game. It's not even close to the level of destruction BFBC 2 had in BF 3 and 4.

There is a lot you can destroy and you can usually open up new paths and get creative, but the destructibility of BF 3 is definitely toned down from previous entries. I did miss being able to put a hole in anything I wanted if I had enough hardware to do it. It wasn't a game breaker for me though. Classic BF tactics for removing cover and eliminating annoying snipers still work for the most part.

It's fun and not the exact same game as BF 3, but also not a huge improvement over it. Especially in regard to how destructible the environments are.

Thanks everyone, appreciate the comments. I will stick with battlefield bad company 2. Still plenty of people playing it on ps3 and even more on PC. But ps3 is where I play most.
