Greetings and peace to all!

I have a problem! Here it is! I burnt the .iso image to a Dvd using isomagic! Then i tried to do a fresh install on of windows 7 on my system! Mind please i am trying to install WINDOWS 7 RTM BUILD 7600 X86. Now i retarted my computer, the DVD booted, and windows 7 loaded its installation files (the white bar completes to the end of the screen). Then windows 7 logo appeared (several colored lights swirl around makes windows logo) and then it freezes there! I tried to boot again n again but same happens! I should also indicate i tried to install windows 7 earlier (1 week ago) too. At that time it did pass through the windows logo screen and successfully got installed! But when it rebooted after installation, it freezes at the same logo scresn please please help! My specs are following:

Hi Usman,

Welcome.

Do you have the screen connected through HDMI by any chance?
Or DVI to HDMI?

If so, connect with VGA, install windows, install the latest drivers for your graphics card, and then connect through HDMI again.

I know of several cases where HDMI gave problems like this.

And peace to you to.

Now OT,

You are drawing conclusions, and making assumptions, but yet you ask for help.
I want to help you, but you have to let me.
I will repeat what I've said in my previous post, and clarify it a little.

On more than a few occasions, I've seen installs not finishing with HDMI and DVI cables connected.
The Win7 built in driver prevents the install from completing.
Hence, it stops at the startup screen.

When installing with VGA cable, the install finishes ok,
after which you download and install the latest drivers,
after which you can reconnect with DVI again.

Just do this, and see if that fixes your problem.

Greetz, and may the Win7 gods be with you. :D

Do you get to the stage in setup where you choose which partition to install w7 to (custom install), or does it freeze before that? Did you get that far, and how long did you wait as w7 can take time - mine seemed to freeze 3 times during install for about 5 mins each time. I f you reach the part in setup where you select custom install, and it freezes after that you can restart setup, and when you reach custom install this time delete the partition you intend installing w7 on - then recreate the partition in the empty space, and then continue to install to the new partition - w7 sometimes cant recognise the partition originally created.

I have the issue with a clean install ona fairly new setup. I can get through the DVD basedpart (boot, select partition, copy files, extractfiles), but after the first reboot, it shows the Win7 logo, then just goes blank. I left it like this overnight and it is still blank.
Rebooted into safe mode, and it seems to stall around the classPNP.sys, but in safe mode it gets passed this point only to error saying that setup can't complete in safe mode.

I am connected through DVI, but I don't have a VGA connector, nor PCI-E vga card. Can MS seriously not sort the installer out to pick up DVI? It's not exactly cutting edge is it?

i HAVE THE LATEST FIRMWARE ON MY mOBO (aSUS K8N-E SLI I think) sorry caps.

Is there any way to 'inject' my graphics card driver into the install process (like a slipstreamed XP install)?

Hmn, you could try what I outlned, sounds similar . Delete that partition and recreate, and see if you can continue to install to the new partition successfully.

Hi,
I can get to the choose partition every time, and I am installing to a new disk (I won't risk an upgrade as I have a working Vista install at the minute). I have tried deleting all the data prior to install a number of times. I can get past that bit, and I can reboot, and then it tells me it is updating registry settings, starting services and then tells me it is completing the install. After about 5 minutes of that, the screen goes blank, and that is it. No more installing.

I have tried disabling driver signing at boot, unplugged all 'unnecessary' devices and even tried with no monitor connected. Nothing works.

I wouldn't mind, but the W7 compatibility checker tool says my GFX card is tested working with 7, when it quite blatantly doesn't work! If it wasn't for my need of Media Centre, I'd be defecting to Linux now! Never had so much trouble installing Windows!
