Big Time Error. Need some help here please!

I have never once got a blue screen. Each time it crashes the computer just freezes. Whatever last image just freezes and whatever sound was playing (if there is one) just continues to loop over and over again to the point it sounds like screeching. Random crashes when i web browse, watch video's, listen to music, game, random stuff really.

Still looking for this .dmp file to no avail. Maybe it didn't record one on my last crash?

If you have get no Blue Screen. You get no .dmp file.

You keep mentioning "sound was playing". Does it only crash while playing music? Has it ever crashed while you weren't playing music?

I have now run a memtest and it produced zero problems. Everything on that front seems to be fine. Any other ideas?

I have replaced my ram and motherboard in suspicion of these being the issue with the same result. I'm starting to lose all hope here......

Nachoman

I dont have a true debugger so Im just giving it a quick look in the mean time. It seems the BSOD was caused by dxgmms1.sys. That is a video related (driver) error. the dump also incoluded wdf01000.sys which seems to be cd/usb related.

If i were you I would look in event viewer (type event viewer in search) and look in the app tab to see if there are any listed errors relating to this. I would also download a new video drover.

Hope this helps and im sure someone with a debugger will be along to give you a definative answer

Ken

I'm going to revert back to Catalyst 9.7 and see if it stops crashing. I'll also try that Windows 7 Recovery on startup next time i crash and see if it yields any results....

Problem solved.

Turns out that even though my Corsair Dominator RAM passed the memtest with flying colors that it was still the reason why my system was crashing......

I have now fully replaced the RAM and am happy to report i have ZERO crashes in over 3 hours. I still got my fingers cross and i'm constantly biting my nails as to whether or not i have fixed it, but i'm thinking i got it. Thanks for the help though guys!!

Point of order:

Your Dominator RAM has not been proven faulty, at least not as reflected in this thread. I suspect a change in power distribution/consumption accounts for the change in system behavior.

Be careful - biting fingernails is a known cause of keyboard lag.

You are correct that the ram has not been proven faulty, but for whatever reason my motherboard hates it. They just don't work well together unfortunately, this Mushkin ram will have to suffice. :D
