Hi guys, I clicked on a site from google to get a manual for a epson printer and got this popup with a audio message. I am running a full scan using Microsoft essentials now.

. Was going to try a system restore from last week, but I started the scan already. If this does not work is there a solution that is not to hard to follow, at 74 I am not as sharp as I was, which wasn't all that sharp to begin with. I can't upload a photo. It says Windows Defender act immediately App Ads.fiancetrack 2.ddl threat detected trojan spyware, also had a audio recording + of course a phone number to call.

Please Advise if possible.

Thank You, Gary I am on my old XP PC

The definitive answer would be to see a screenshot of the message, but I'm pretty much sure that it's just a fake advertisment trying to sell you something you don't need.

It's a very common ocurrence of internet that you see banners that shout "your system is in danger, click here to solve it" or "your computer has many problems, you can solve them all for as little money as......" or something along these lines. Those are never true, and instead they want you to click them, install something malicious, or call a random number to try to scam you. To add dramatism to the bait, they can add unexpected sounds and flashy messages and videos to make them appear real.

They're NOT real. Your computer is not infected, not in danger and hasn't have a million of problems. Those are prerecorded messages and sounds inserted in a website that has no idea (and no way to know) what your computer is doing or even its state. The ultimate purpose is to make you buy something.

Like all scams out there, just ignore it, use an adblocker to block them out if too annoying. Your computer has nothing wrong.

Thank you for the reply. I did run a MS security essentials scan and it found a "HACK tool in system>win32" had been installed. Before the scan the computer would still show that same screen after rebooting, all is will now after the scan. I ran quick scan first it did not catch it, but the deep scan took about 9 hours did find it.

Regards Gary
