Biostar z77 motherboards ?

I'm looking at buying a new motherboard tomorrow , and have been curious about Biostar for a while . My question is are they any good . I have read a few articles on older boards , that they have had a couple of over clocking world records . I'm looking at the Intel z77 range ,specifically the TZ77XE4 ,or XE4 .

Hello Paul I am not familiar with Biostar so what is the attraction of that brand?

Personally I have gone over to Asus from Gigabyte for boards I currently have the P8Z77-V base version in my Ivy Bridge and it has been a bit of a learning curve with the new EUFI BIOS but the board is just so easy to work with.

If you get the new BIOS - ask in here I did hear there is a certain way of installing onto the board with that form of BIOS

I've currently got the Asus P8Z77-LX , But have had a few issues , as in the on board sound stuck on digital or HDMI . And also the first x16 pcie slot has gone , I have had to move my gpu over a slot . I'm probably going to buy the MSI Z77 MPower board , to be honest , I'm just curious about the Biostar . They seem to have all the features of a more well known board but at a more entry level price . The Z77 HiFi board is meant to be pretty awsome as far as on board sound goes . But even with that I don't think I will ever trust it again .

Hum ok mate well if I wasn't with the Asus now I would still probably gone with Gigabyte as I have them in the past and they have been real good this one is about $150 out here don't know where you are but worth a consideration Gigabyte Z77X-D3H motherboard review - Introduction

If you are looking at something a bit more up market Gigabyte Z77X-UP4 TH Motherboard | Hardware Secrets but at $234 (out here) is a fair bit more but the one I would go.

Wouldn't go near AsRock as I have heard not so good things about them. But it really does depend on what the thing is used for and budget eh?

Yea I've heard bad things about the asrock boards too mate.As far as the Gigabyte boards go there always seems to be posts about problems with any of the z77 range,bios mainly.I don't now specifics as I haven't read them but just remember them always being asked about.

Yes Paul it is the EUFI that seems to be the problem I had difficulties with it at first as it is quite different to the one we all got used to.

There are a lot of members here who will help out when the time comes mate cos there is a certain way of setting it up that some of us who have it on missed - but I am not real sure of exactly what that procedure is. If I can I'll find out from my mate what that was

As for the board mate go with what you are happy with as with everything else everyone has different favourites and opinions on everything

well I have counted out Biostar ,An have got the choice down to either the MSI MPower , or the Sabertooth both Z77.
I'm pretty new to build your own , is there any specific sequence or way of doing things when changing boards ? I'm going to format my ssd for boot as I have to buy a new copy of W7 , But have read that some programs don't like the switch over of some components ? I think it just applies to mobo chip sets more than anything . It is quite a new build any way my 256 gb ssd has only got about 50gb used and my 1TB mechanical has only 2.78 gb in use so I'm thinking maybe just back up my games and important stuff and just format them all and treat it as a new build ?

Hum I was going to go for the Sabertooth when I built and someone put me off it Paul I can't remember why but I reckon you should look at the P8Z77-V Pro or the P8Z77-V Pro Thunderbolt if you are looking around at that sort of pricing. But in any case I reckon going Asus is a good move
