Solved Bizarre monitor problem

My home built server stopped functioning. Turns out that it's the display that is the problem.
Here' the troubleshooting I've done.
BIZARRE!

It's an old Dell Fp 19 (something like that)


Troubleshooting (excuse the short-hand). Everything worked unless noted.
plug other monitor into server via DVI
plug other monitor into server via server VGA cable
plug server monitor into other laptop via VGA
The only thing that does not work is the server monitor into the server VGA!

How is this possible?
The VGA cable works
The server VGA display out works
The monitor VGA input works.

What is left?

On the bottom of the Dell monitor there is a button for switching the input source.
Have you tried cycling through all the ports?

With "other monitor" attached via VGA, go into the Display Properties and check to see if there are any odd settings, like an odd Screen Refresh Rate or Resolution that the monitor can't handle.

It doesn't have a way to switch the input source unless it's through the actual display, which won't work unless it's not plugged in.

I opened another thread. Wondering if the board should be scrapped.

I'm not talking about switching the cables on the monitor.
I'm talking about switching the input source (VGA, DVI, HDMI) on the monitors settings display, using the button on the bottom of the monitor that is used to toggle through the various inputs.

I owned a Dell 1901FP, so I know it has the button.

This is not that monitor. It's a 193fp. If it has a button I am missing it but I don't think I am. It only has one input.

OK, got it. Model #s are important. I was thrown be the "It's an old Dell Fp 19 (something like that)" statement.
