black bars on the top and bottom of the movie

hi, guys
i have been streaming some movies to my laptop ,i have a black bars on the top and bottom of the movie, how do i remove the black bars???
my laptop screen resolution is set to max (1366 x 768)
i am using windows 10

Hello Floyd mate best answered in the tens forum mate as I am not sure how it deals with that issue, as far as I know films are presented in just the same manner as if played on your TV - annoying but a matter of fact these days of showing films.

It's the aspect ratio of the film. You have a 16:9 screen - 1.77 - like most TVs. Movies nowadays are made wider - 2.35, which results in black bars top and bottom - but at least you see the whole frame. Some DVDs are cropped to 16:9 for TV - fills the screen, but you lose some of the picture. If you could somehow zoom the laptop screen, you'd lose the sides of the movie.

Old movies were usually 4:3 - 1.33 - so you get bars at the side on a regular 16:9 screen. In fact the TV aspect of 16:9 was created as a compromise, so that 4:3 and 2.35 movies both had about the same percent of 'problem' black.

Everyone has their opinion on black bars. I prefer to see the full picture, so put up with bars. Other folk like to zoom their TV to fill the screen (and lose some of the movie). The worst case scenario is when people watch old 4:3 TV shows stretched to fill a 16:9 widescreen TV. Cars have oval wheels, and everyone has a round fat face. Drives me nuts . . .
