I get random black screens followed by a shutdown while playing online games. I tried reinstalling the graphic card drivers but it does not seem to work. Reinstalling the game "fixes" this momentarily and once it starts to show a black screen it repeats itself.

Temps while gaming:
CPU: 70-75C
GPU: 60-70C

Specs:
i7-740QM @ 1.73Ghz
4gb RAM
nVidia GT 425M
500gb Hard Drive @ 5400 RPM

Please help and thank you :)

Note: I usually play HoN, LoL, Dragon Nest, and a little bit of Blacklight: Retribution

Hey Arc nice to see you again :)

I changed my drivers and was able to play without crashing yesterday. I decided not to post since it's too early to conclude. I got a crash today and I just wanted to post the dump file. I'm currently following the procedures from the thread you posted.

So far, all my tests passed. sfc.exe \scannow didn't show any problems. I will run memtest overnight tonight, and I will be reporting with the results by the time I wake up.

Here are some dump files that I got after trying to play after updating my BIOS and USB drivers from Sony's website. I also updated my Realtek drivers

I'm not overclocking. My laptop has a pretty bad airflow design. I'll clean my laptop tomorrow. I'll post the results.

Yes I did. The tests passed, system file check didn't show any problems. Installing directx9 didn't help. Here are some more dump files that I got. I am not overclocking. Maybe it's the turbo boost that activates and causing the errors?

Arc, I took time to run all those tests again. The tests passed, but the problem persists. I think there's something wrong when I assembled my laptop (It was my first time opening it because I had to change the thermal paste.). I tried removing some unused programs and they didn't work too.

Oh and according to BlueScreenView, my recent dump files have a stop code 0x117

Stop 116 and stop 117 are almost the same, and the troubleshooting procedure too.

You may try switching it to the onboard graphics, see it is crashing there or not.

I removed my graphics drivers and it did not install automatically after a restart. Instead, something like "Standard VGA Adaptor was successfully installed" came up. I'm guessing this is what you mean by switching to the onboard graphics? Anyway, I wasn't able to play any games. Every game would just hang.

I downloaded Sony's graphics driver but it's quite outdated (Year 2011). Installing this helped by delaying the time I usually get a black screen (around 30-40 mins. before I get black screens) and it's quite consistent too.

Comparatively better, as you think? Then use it.

My laptop actually lasted longer than I thought on the stress test before getting the dreaded black screen.

I'd also like to ask some questions:
1. Can using uninstallers like Revo Uninstaller do some damage? Like deleting the wrong folders and registry entries? I've used it for quite some time.
2. I've noticed a missing screw on my hard drive bay. Can this pose any significant problems in the future?

Revo installer is not anything bad, as far as it is uninstalling a program and removing its leftovers only. And a missing screw can make some troubles for sure.
