Black Screen

When clicking on some links on the internet and in some emails ,I get a completely black screen with one white pixel in the middle. The tab reads (GIF Image 1x1 pixel).It seems to be random ,and happens on well known sites. and known safe email links. I have re installed Firefox, my main browser, but it also happens when using google Chrome and Maxthon browsers.
It is very frustrating, and I would appreciate any advice on a fix.

Have tried another monitor with, the same result.

My PC is a Medion Akoya E4355D.
Intel (R) core 9(TM) i3CPU [email protected] GH
Memory 3063mb. 1TB hard drive.
OS Win7 Home Premium 32bit.
Purchased on 10.03.2010.

Whilst not a novice am not an expert either.

Would be happy to supply any further info. you may want.

I've never heard of dead pixels being anything other than the monitor, but it doesn't hurt to check over the display.

Enable hardware auto-updating via Windows Update (Steps 3 and 6)
then Check for Updates, install all Important and Optional Updates until no more are offered. These provide drivers as well as critical patches to make the OS and hardware work correctly or at all/.

If no newer display driver, check the PC and Display model's Support Downloads webpage.

Change the resolution to see if the problem persists.

Hi gregrocker

It's not a dead pixel in the accepted sense, as exactly the same thing happened when I borrowed a friends Monitor.
The 'pixel' seems to be part of the black screen display, and would appear on any other display.

Tried all your other suggestions with no luck.

Would a reinstall of windows7 cure the problem?.

A reinstall is always a good idea if you stick closely with the steps, tools and methods in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 which assure you'll get and keep a perfect install.
