Black Spots in Blue Areas of Photoshop

So I thought I would try this forum first so I don't have to go and create another account. I also am not sure if this is the right section for this topic but I think it is.

Anyway I'm very new to Photoshop and I don't use it for crazy complicated things. So anyway today I opened up a project file to notice that a certain type of blue areas were no longer blue and had been replaced to black. I decided to reinstall Photoshop completely but that didn't fix the issue.

What else is weird is that if I save the image, the image doesn't show the black spots. It is like Photoshop is having trouble showing certain types of blue in the program.

I'm thinking it might not be a Photoshop issue since reinstalling the program never fixed it. Does anyone know what might be causing this? If you want to see screenshots, let me know.

You get a similar effect in lightroom, where the image has shadows and highlights that are out of gamut. But Ps doesnt work that way. All i could suggest is clearing the preferences and then resetting the preferences. You may need to go to the adobe forums to find your answer.

Seems to be some kind of graphical corruption. Some problem with display drivers maybe? So, update your graphics drivers to the latest.

Try resetting Photoshop preferences:

1. Click start rb:
2. Just type in "photoshop" and do nothing (don't hit Enter or click on the result)
3. Now hold down Alt+Ctrl+Shift and then click Adobe Photoshop in the results list. Keep the keys held down.
4. Now you'll be asked if you would like to reset preferences or not. Click Yes.
5. Done.

Ok I already had the latest version of my graphics driver. I am using 13.1.

Resetting never did anything as I expected since I had already completely reinstalled Photoshop before deleting everything I could find including the preferences.

I remember seeing a page of someone who had the exact same problem as me and seeing it had to do with the display driver but I forgot how I got to the page. I'll try to find that page and see what it said about the display driver.

Open up Photoshop > Go to Edit > Preferences > Performance

Does changing the settings there solve your problem? Just play around a bit (I took the screen shot on a crappy system, so things are disabled in there, you'll have them enabled)

Perhaps

1. Open Preferences
2. Performance Panel
3. Click on Advanced Settings
4. Set mode to Basic
5. Reopen image or restart PS

Does that solve the problem?

1. Open Preferences
2. Performance Panel
3. Turn OFF OGL all together.
4. Reopen image or restart PS

Suggested here, they say is a driver issue. As the gamers here will tell you, the latest driver isn't always the best performer.

One more thing Daniel, uninstall v13.1 drivers completely and install older v12.1 drivers. There were one of the most stable for me. I still use them (cuz newer drivers cause graphical corruption in games and disable my ability to overclock).

And now yet a third opinion. I agree with graphics drivers newer is NOT always better. I have one that works fine (nVIDIA), why change it?
Another way would be to go to Device Manager/Display Adapter/your GPU, right click and select Uninstall and delete driver. Reboot and run Windows Update. This has worked for me and nVIDIA.
