Blank Screen at start of installation

Hello guys. What about if I just wiped my vista too and installed from scratch? Hmm anyway can anyone advise me on the best way to update my bios, if that is it.

These are your system specs. I am not good at reading Intel specs, but it looks like your system supports 64bits OS.
Like most manuals it tells you a lot but not what you want. I now know that you should not operate a laptop while driving, but not how to update the BIOS. :sarc:
I found that inside the zip file that brings your new BIOS they have an update program and a small presentation how to do it.
If after reading that you are still unsure, I recommend you contact Acer directly and ask them for recomendations. I would hate to tell you to do it and create a problem. I have done it myself for different computers and the flash utility worked fine. Never an Acer though

As with any operation that might cause you problems to access your computer, PLEASE BACK UP YOUR DATA. This can't be stressed enough

I wouldn't do that, unless you can reinstall Vista later, otherwise you might end up with no OS.

Yeah I don't know either. I just read it's needed for activation. Ah well. To be honest knowing my luck lately i'll flash my bios and it'll bugger up. If I do it and it works i'll get back to you, but i'm kinda fed up of all this.

JZ, I think it is a BIOS modification, which you don't want.

Hey, don't loose hope. I tried for many weeks to install Win7x64 in my machine, it wouldn't, altough I could run Win7 32 bits, Vista 64 bits, Ubuntu 64 bits, everything. It turned out to be the processor, an AMD which supposedly was capable of running 64bits (acutually it is, just no Win7). Come to think of it, it might still be Microsoft's fault, but sometimes there can be others to blame...
I know, the above does nothing to help solve your problem. So, back to it, let us know if the BIOS update went OK and the results

One thing none of us including me has asked. where did you download you win 7 ISO from, what build is it (ie 7100) and how did you burn it

I just reread the entire thread and you shouldnt be having these problems. Let see what we can do to fix that.

windows 7(win7) black screen freeze FIX / solution

Hey all, I had this dam problem also.

This is how I fixed it temporarily. Im using a LCD moniter with VGA(blue) and DVI(white) plugs. I just took out the DVI(white) plug and it loaded windows 7 without the freeze. Hope this can help others. GL

Hi, i have somehow the same problem. i get a black screen in competing installation. i cant continue it in safe mode. i tried many times(unplugged all usb, low resolution mode). but after it i had to return to win vista, but the thing i s that now i cant install any graphics driver but standart vga adapter. i get a black screen after reboot.
