That is a 240 Watt power supply,

OEM HP DPS-240MB-3 460974-001 462435-001 240W Power Supply For HP DC7900

You can add that to your specs, "240 Watt" is what most folks are looking for.

DriverMAX and other driver programs are not needed and should not be trusted entirely because they can offer incorrect drivers and can be a pain to fix what they do to some systems.

Well there is one problem for sure. You need a power supply.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 740 requires at minimum 400W power supply. You have a 240W HP power supply.

I would suggest something in the range of 550W Corsair or other quality power supply manufactures.

It really doesn't have anything to do with Group Policy but it is a root problem.

Getting rid of DriverMax is a good thing.

Is this PC a gift from your friend or did you buy it from your friend?

I have just had a report back from my request for a expert to look at your log. Your post # 17 in this thread.
You log was quite challenging to me.
It seem you have a Windows 7 problem.
Do you have a Windows COA sticker on this computer. If so what Windows system does it say this computer came with?

Here is the words in a quote from the expert.

Oh what fun! ;)

This is so close to being genuine it ain't true :)

The BIOS is dated June 2009 but the SLIC table is for Windows 7 (apparently)
Quote:
OEM Activation 2.0 Data-->
BIOS valid for OA 2.0: yes
Windows marker version: 0x20001
The Key is a COA_NSLP one, which ignores the SLIC table anyhow - so why has he got an Activation exploit installed?

Google doesn't find the Key - so it's not been causing too many problems. Perhaps the OP couldn't activate it properly, so decided to ignore the rules??

This may be a perfectly legitimate install - but IMHO, it's classified as counterfeit because of the presence of the Exploit (Loader).

The machine was built prior to Windows 7 went RTM - but is well within the qualifying period to have got a freebie upgrade (which would explain the OEM_NSLP Key, but NOT the Windows 7 SLIC table).

I'm in two minds on this - a reformat/reinstall may help, but would almost certainly alienate the OP who could (almost) legitimately claim to have done nothing wrong.

He says that he just got the machine - since the BIOS is dated 2009, it's certainly second-hand, and he's been ripped off, if that's the case.
Best thing is point out the problems and suggest that he argues with the vendor.

- Windows 7 Pro for Refurb PC#

Why a Windows Vista sticker?

Thanks, JustCall

This computer has been updated, refurbished and who know what else.

I would ask for my money back. By the time you install a legal operating system and change the power supply you have spent more than what you paid for it.
You would still have a mismatched old refurbished H.P. system.

Interesting.
The Vista install is what the machine originally shipped with (and should have a thick line through it low) - the machine was then refurbished and 'upgraded' by a 'professional' refurbisher (quite properly, by the sounds of it!) to Windows 7.
As far as I am aware, refurbishers are not allowed to alter the SLIC table.

I'd not have thought that a machine from 2009 would be worth $265 in the second-hand market - particularly not with a fairly average spec such as this - unless it included all the peripherals as well (monitor, K/B, etc.). You nay want to check what the original selling price was (if you can find it), and/or what similar machines are going for on eBay
