Rich people can buy all they want, also technology needs to move forward, after blu-ray a new thing needs to come that's for sure and many people are gonna consume it.

My point here is the current trend to stream content (aka netflix or other services) not buying discs.

Regarding the Apple Watch lol for me that's still a prototype i don't see it being a massive success, a better example could be smartphones, almost everybody owns a cell phone and also have or want a smart one too.

Well, I don't consider myself rich (LOL) but would be interested in this technology. At this time it will be considered a niche technology as there are no plans for major networks (that I'm aware of) to broadcast in UHD. There are, however, plenty of new UHD TVs being sold at former HD prices right now, so maybe that will change. We'll see.

My wife once embarrassed me in front of friends as to the need to buy DVD's (no rentals or streaming was available at that time). She implied it was foolish, "Watch them once or twice & that's it". I then pointed to her large hardback book collection & thought that was foolish, too. "Paperbacks read exact the same & cost a fraction as much & you read those hardbacks only once, never twice & each book cost more that a DVD!" Like I said, to each their own!

Apple Watch is no prototype. My son has had his on order for months now. Sales have exceeded expectations.

And, yes, streaming video is the trend. Unfortunately, as others have posted, half the country cannot stream HQ video as their internet service is too slow. My guess is as new codecs are developed (like H.265) file sizes will be reduced & streaming video will become easier. Your vision could very well come true. Take care!

Yes, you have an important point here, i was starting to sound like a rich boy assuming everybody has a fast internet connection, my bad.

Half the World cannot stream HQ video as they don't even have internet at home. What do they do? pretty much buying illegal dvd or blu-ray copies, that's the most affordable way to watch HD stuff and hence yeah ultra HD- Blu-ray illegal and legal discs are going to be (maybe) the most spread way to watch HD still i assume.
