Hey guys, I just bought a new hp touchsmart tm2 not even a month ago, and I think about 2 weeks in I started receiving the BSoD 0x0000003b. My computer has restarted just fine each time. So now it happens once, sometimes twice a day at any random time, I could be surfing the web, listening to music, or using microsoft onenote. I'm running windows 7 professional x64 which came preloaded on the computer. I attached a zip file containing what I think is called the dump file or something like that, which I hope you can take a look at to help me. As you can probably tell I'm not that techie so if you could leave your response in a "for dummies" version, that would be great.

PLEASE HELP! this is getting EXTREMELY annoying.

Thanks in advance,
NotSoTechieDude

Hi,

The first question that I want to ask is are you overclocking anything? If yes, go to BIOS setting and reset everything to default optimal setting. If not, follow the things below:

First of all, please remove Norton Antivirus completely. It was blamed in the DMP and stop code 3B system service exception is typically caused by that
Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton product | Norton Support

If you need an alternative BSODs free antivirus program, try MSE:
http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

You have too many out of date driver and among the stop codes I saw, there are a lot stop code related to device driver, here they are:
Code:
fffff880`019ab000 fffff880`019b9000 SiSRaid2 SiSRaid2.sys Thu Sep 25 01:28:20 2008 (48DA86C4)

That is your SiS AHCI Stor-Miniport Driver, please update them to newer version (date 2009 until now) if possible

I don't think that this is hardware issue but just driver. Window 7 can't run with driver that is about 2 years old, and look at that, you have drivers are 3 years old and even 5 years old, so no surprise when you got a tons of BSODs daily.
Please step by step update each drivers, it take time and I don't say that it is easy.

Hey thanks so much for your reply! I did everything that I understood... but I'm a little confused about the updating the drivers and those codes and stuff. Anyway, I downloaded and ran the norton thing, did the system file checker and disk check, and everything went fine, but I just got the BSoD 3b again :( So I'm guessing it has to do with the stuff I don't understand. I'm not sure if it's really possible, but could you explain a little more?

Thanks again,

Have you run the SFC Scan more than once? The problem could be related to one of your USB Drivers

Also follow this to Update your Drivers

Hope This Helps,
Josh

Hey guys... so as far as I can tell the 3b error code has stopped! but I just got on my computer today and I got a BSoD with the error code 0x00000024. So after it recovered from that I tried to get on the internet to post this, as soon as I clicked on chrome, I got the same BSoD. So I don't know If it has something to do with the internet, or maybe those drivers that I don't understand. But here is the the new zip file for you guys to figure out.

All you work is much appreciated!

Hi,

The dmp blamed ntfs.sys, which is hard drive controller driver with stop code 24 which is usually hard drive related.
Please perform a disk check:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

I have not seen you update all driver I suggested, especially the one date 2005 and 2007. Have you ever tried to go to the manufacture site I provided to search for the product name listed and update? I really suspect that whole lots of out of date drivers are behaving improperly in your system

There is another option, which is enable Driver Verifier. It will flag bad drivers, but along with that, your computer will crash more and it's possible that you won't be able to start up computer and need to get safe mode to turn it off.

It would be interesting to know which filter driver (if any) got a chance to screw this up in between here:
Code:
fffff880`039a4860 fffff880`01ae06df fltmgr!FltpLegacyProcessingAfterPreCallbacksCompleted+0x24f
fffff880`039a48f0 fffff800`02cc11f2 fltmgr!FltpDispatch+0xcf
I think ttran is on the right path here, but if the 0x24's continue it might be wise to switch your system from minidumps to a kernel dump - there's an IRP here that would give us more info, but that data is not captured in a minidump.
