Blue Screen of Death, after any ATI update.

Hey, I haven't been able to update my drivers since my first update about 5 or 6 months ago, I updated to 10.4 and I haven't beable to update since because I get the BSOD everytime I tried, I figured it was just ATI having really bad updates, but that's not the case I think anymore, this is what I get after system restore when my computer won't start up.

Are you going direct to the AMD/ATI site or using the Windows update service? The advice would be to download the newer version run the uninstall option first followed by a full system restart. Thne run the installer a second time choosing the install option for seeing any newer Cat. go on.

Often the MS update site simply tosses newer drivers at you without the newer catalyst included. That will scramble up the works for you fast! Even for sound and other devices like tuner cards you want the full download of any newer update.

I downloaded the full suite off of the website, and I don't uninstall anything, I just click install and it uninstalls the previous drivers for me, is that wrong? Should I not do that?

Most times you can just run the new driver package.
But when you have problems with your drivers or the install, that's when you want to do a "clean install" of the drivers.

You want to be sure to have a path back, should the new drivers simply not take. So do a System Restore point beforehand.

Since the install option went on without any problem you are all set. The preferred method however would have been to use the uninstall option to clear off the older set to make the way for the newer. As long as everything went well you may have your problem solved as long as the newer version is working as it should.
