several problems

1-AVG remove and replace with Microsoft security essentials

AVG - Download tools

http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

2- Your Iastor driver has caused most of these. Re-install it with newest version.

After these are fixed we can start to ID the true cause of the BSOD's.

Bluescreen of death, need more help

Thank you for the help, but I still have some problems:

1-AVG remove and replace with Microsoft security essentials - Yes, I did this

http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ - Yes, I did this

2- Your Iastor driver has caused most of these. Re-install it with newest version.

Not sure where to get this driver, attached is the only link I can find. Installing SATA Drivers without a Floppy Disk (Intel Only) (Windows XP) - TACKtech Corp.
It's real hard to install anything, because if I'm not in safe mode the BSOD pops up almost immediatley after start up.

Any suggestions on where to get the Iastor driver and how to download drivers in safe mode?

Thanks for the help.

Intel driver

I could not use the Intel Driver Update Utility in safe mode, the only way I can use my computer without the BSOD popping up. I think I found the correct driver by manually downloading it from the Intel site. I'll let you know if it works.

Thank you.

Still getting the BSOD

The new driver did not fix the problem or maybe the BSOD is not related to the BSOD problem.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Go into safe mode with networking (F8). go here Intel® Driver Update Utility, run the detection wized and it will find the correct driver for you.

Hi Ken,

Things ar looking better. I think I may have installed the correct driver? I did not see any drivers for the identified Iastor driver when I ran Intels driver utility, but they had some other drivers to update.

I can not get my laptop to run in safe mode, BSOD pops up immediately upon starting, but laptop is running under the Last Good Configuration and so far no BSOD. Big improvement.

What do you think I should do now to make sure the machine in clean?

I just finished a quick scan with MS Security Essentials and no problems were found. Now I'm doing a full scan.

Thanks for your help

If its security you are concerned about, you can also run a full scan using Malwarebytes

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
My full scan with MS Security Essetails is still scanning, but it says that some malicious or potentially unwanted sw might exist on system. That's interesting as it was not picked up on the quick scan. Full scan has been running for 3.5 hours and looks to be about 3/4 done. I would love to get this laptop back to the way it was when I first bought it, fast and bug free.

Quick Scan only scans 1/2 or 3/4 of the system. Full Scan scans everywhere (1/1 of the system) including hidden files and folders.

BSOD still getting it, I'm about to buy a MAC

I can't deal with this, the BSOD continues to pop up. Now my cursor is frozen so I can't move in safe mode or normal. It worked for about 1/2 hour, then I surfed the net, was hijacked to two other sites, then BSOD.

It's probably still a driver issue, but now I can't use the cursor so how can I fix it?
Any suggestions?
I'll never buy another Toshiba.

Thanks for reading this, any help is appreciated.
