Why did you buy a Win 8 key? I don't have a Win 8.x and never installed one but from what I heard it works like Win 10, that is, if you have it once activated on a computer it will auto recognize the computer and reactivate.
You install and skip the step where you insert the key. It will activate by itself.

Some questions:
- Did you install win 8.0 or Win 8.1?
- When you were asked to where to install, did you go to advanced- delete ALL partitions and choose the RAW partition to install on?
- Did you install as UEFI-GPT or Legacy-MBR?

Don't know why msft did not recognize the mobo as it was an 8.1. I also was able to find my product key with an easy app reccommended by Lenovo (which I will post on in this forum), but the ISO did not recognize it. Seems like there is a mobo id malfunction somewhere.
The key was a few dollars on ebay so it was cool, I already downloaded the ISO and set up the boot tool.

8.1

No, did not get there as at first had trouble with the partition not recognized, but 2nd time it went through. I will later ask for help for my new HDD, since the disk configuration only has one drive with a primary partition, and I'm wondering if that is a problem in case of a bad sector, etc.

- Did you install as UEFI-GPT or Legacy-MBR?

Believe it or not, but it had to be Legacy otherwise only HDD showed up...so you can install 8.

Thanks for the great support
