Hello there. I am kind of experimentator and wanted to try out booting from MS-DOS install floppy to my Windows 7 machine. It really started with the MS-DOS boot and the install screen shown up. I exited MS-DOS installation and tried to access the C: drive where I have Windows 7 installed. But it says Invalid drive specification. Do I need to mount the drive first? How to do it temporarily without losing all the data on the drive? I want to use true MS-DOS boot to quick lookup for files on my machine...

Hi Polda18,

Welcome to SevenForums where you can find old DOS users :D and floppy users. ( I still have an FDD on my desktop and loads of floppy disks)

You won't be able to access NTFS volumes with MS-DOS. Google "dos ntfs" if you want full read/write access to NTFS volumes.

Thank you for your input. Looks like there are tons of different ways and nonte of them actually works with original MS-DOS boot floppy as I have :( All of them requires additional boot options to include NTFS support and I have no option to modify the floppy content :( So I simply can't use MS-DOS floppy to access Windows drive. Thank you anyway...
