Hello all, I have a boot-up problem, it just started happening. But when I boot-up my computer it takes about 5-8 minutes to start up. It works perfectly when I log in but it takes forever to get to my login screen. Does anyone know what seems to be the problem or better yet know how to fiz this?! Thanks! :) Also when I turn on my computer the Windows 7 orb animation that plays slows down and lags a little.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can take a boot trace as per the tutorial here.

A couple of things.

- install and run malwarebytes
- run msconfig, click on the "startup" tab, and report the items you see.

I have Malwarebytes :) I am scanning my PC at the moment, it's almost done. I just too much stuff on here so it's taking forever.

And for the second option

Note that BitTorrent and uTorrent are known "slow boot" culprits, so disabling those from starting on boot is a good first step. After that, there's nothing obvious in that list.

Ok, after my scan is over i'll see if it works and as for the first option you gave me i'll try it out as well.

Just for the heck of it, uncheck all those items just to "test" if this is giving you a slow startup time. Bet it is...

Wouldn't that stop somethings from working on start-up? Or it's just software that isn't necessary only for my personal needs?

Good question. This will not create any permanent problems. If you find your speed is dramatically increased, you can selectively recheck items until you have what you need at startup.

**EDIT** and normally I would suggest a defrag, but you already have O&O, and I assume you have use it.

Yep used O&O! And ok I will uncheck the items that don't seem important. Malwarebytes isn't even done either.

No, but I think I found the problem, I have AVG PC Tuneup so I ran a registry defrag scan and it had to restart.

when I restarted it ran chkdsk/ disk error checking. After that it fixed the mess ups in registry and all that and now my boot up is back to normal runs perfectly clear! :D

But thank you so much for the help! I really appreciate it. I also added you some rep last night :)
