Recently i was running low on system space and i decided to compress files on the system disk...Little did i know that this error would come up....I searched on the internet and i destroyed myself trying to arrange the problem all the day...Yet without any success...I cannot boot from my windows 7 disk...I cannot format the computer and i cannot repair or restore my computer to an earlier state. I cannot access neither the command console to repair the bootmgr...I am out of options and being the programmer i am, i am trying to save my files on my computer because of important projects i have going on for work. So if anybody is kind enough to walk with me and help me solve this problem then please i will be very grateful for helping me :sarc:

Your problem about the W7 disk not booting lies in the boot order in your BIOS - you need to arrange it so that your optical drive comes before your HDD in the boot order.

Well i already tried making the first priority to boot the windows 7 disk...Still it freezes loading the files at the windows 7 logo, when saying "starting Windows" it takes more than 5 minutes and i take it that it freezes....So any other options? i already tried the recover disc on the pendrive and it's telling me "wrong partition tables" or something....

Have you tried booting to the Windows 7 CD and selected Repair? I damaged my boot loader and going through the repair steps off the CD corrected my problem.

Not sure if that will help, but it sound like your issue was somewhat related to mine.

Did you compress anything else on the partition? I have not seen that situation before, but as pweegar posted, putting a useable bootmgr file back on the active partition, is probably necessary, unless you know how to uncompress it from another source.

If you can boot to the Install DVD or Repair CD see if you can get to the C: partition, or whatever shows as the Win 7 directory. Using a command like bcdboot will also replace the boot files on that partition.

For instance, if you Win 7 partition is C:, then go to that drive in the command window, then type the following command followed by enter and wait for a response.

bcdboot C:\Windows /s C:

This should replace the boot files. If that was your problem, the system should now boot normally. Running a startup repair should do about the same thing. You should have been able to restore to a previous state, so maybe something is wrong more than you seem to indicate.

If nothing else works, get a new hard drive and install Win 7 there then fix the problem.

You can create a System Repair Disc to use instead to be able to do this with.

On top of that I don't have a DVD writer Currently working in fedroa Linux.

You can use step 3 in Option Two of the tutorial to use Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool to burn the ISO to a USB flash drive.

Thanks God I will not need that now, bought the dvd after cycling for almost 4-5 Km and you can imagine my current physical state.


When I use the "load drivers" option it ask me to point out the location of the drivers :sarc: What should I do with it ?

I also did this option, but ot no avail.

Well this video does give how to do it. Just asking how long will it take to uncompress a 54Gb drive ?

I did it


Just followed the above mentioned video and also used, while it was uncompressing I executed these commands

[I]Bootrec /fixboot[/I]
[I]Bootrec /fixMbr[/I]

Then restarted my system using the restart button located in the setup.
