Bootmgr is missing or corrupted(NEW*)

k i know this has a simple solution, but for me is different. tried the windows 7 cd and it doesnt recognize any windows installations!!, so all the bootrec.exe commands are useless, the commands in boot folder of c: are also useless, cause it doesnt recognize my partition. This all happened cause i messed up using easybcd to take linux grub out, and now i have this. I luckily have a linux live cd right now, and im using it and trying to fdisk, but like i said before it gives me all partitions except for the windows partition. I installed wine so i can use easy bcd from linux, and reinstall win 7 mbr, but i couldnt open the app, dont know why.... so i m pretty much tied up

This might be quite simple. Mark your Windows partition as active, and then run a startup repair.

like i said before, my partition is not recognized, when i type list disk it show me my whole hardrive, and i cant go in the disk. what pisses me off the most, is that when im gonna install windows 7, it shows me all my partitions..... but in diskpart and fdisk in linux, it doesnt show me my c: drive.... my error is bootmgr is missing when i boot up, and i have tried the usual solutions alrdy

Once you type list disk, you need to type

select disk [number]

list partition

k sorry for being ignorant, you do have to be very exact with commands. Anyways this is what i got, partition 0 and 1 seem to be the same with 19gb size, and 146gb offset. Partition 2, which is primary is my recovery partition has 132gb size and 165gb offset, and i remember i had 145gb recovery partition... which it should be partition 2, my primary was 155gb, which it does not appear, and my linux distro had 19gb plus 1gb swap, which should be either 0 or 1... idk why there is 2... i tried to make partition 0 or 1 active, but i couldnt and even if i did, i think i deleted grub before i had this issue, i want my windows back!! : , i couldnt make it active, cause it looks like my windows partition doesnt even exist!

Open a command prompt, and enter the following:

diskpart
list disk
select disk [whatever the number of the disk with the Windows 7 partition on it it]
list partition
select partition [whatever the partition of the Windows installation is]
active

Can you tell if your Windows 7 partition is Primary or Extended?

i have 3 partitions according to what i remember, 155gb partition, which runs windows 7, i have a 145gb recovery partition, and my last partition has 20gb and runs a linux distro. Diskpart tells me i have 2 20gb partitions, which i can only recognize 1 of them which is my linux distro, and is an extended partition. The other clone of the 20gb partition is logical, and my recovery partition appears as primary according to diskpart, but my original windows 7 partition does not appear.

is your hard disk a sata? i know gparted, some editions dont like sata drives, so if your using gparted through linux it may not see it if its on a sata....

im sorry, i was a little lost in the wording, if your seeing other partitions on the same hard drive, than never mind, but what about reinstalling grub and than editing it to where you think the partition should be? grub is pretty solid, its always found my installs, only other thing is i havent messed with grub2 once i got it set, so i cant help at all there......

Did you try booting Free Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to boot computer directly to manage partition. and see what it says.

Look up vista boot loader its uses easy BCD only with out the commands, its very simple, and very powerful, and i am fairly sure it will run on linux, check it out, vistabootloader, or vistabootloader pro maybe.... dont remember.

k now the problem is not about the bootmgr anymore, but about my partition, my partition appears to be empty where the windows mbr is supposed to be, so then how can i get my files back, if they ever got erased or something

I cannot see windows files, it appears to be empty when i use cfdisk in linux distro, this is my story at first i thought the usual steps with bootrec.exe would fix the issue, but it didnt!, the steps i took to mess my partition up. I am a noobie with easybcd, and I currently had grub showing me windows 7 and a linux distro, because i installed linux after and had the grub incorporated. But then i got tired and i wanted to take it off, so reinstalled vista mbr with easybcd and got only windows, now i wanted linux to show up, so i went to add entry and put linux, without grub or anything, didnt check boot.ini,paths,anything, so i reboot, and now i get bootmgr is missing, and i check partitions with my linux live cd, and the partition appears to be empty or sometimes not even shown! i used cfdisk command and got this: 3 partitions pri/log 155gb= this is supposed to be my windows partition, and it says free space, EMPTY Logical/EXT3 20gb= this is my linux distro partition and primary partition 142gb = this appears to be bootable, which it shouldnt cause is just an extra partition with a bunch of files and info of mine... so i would like to write mbr or rebuild bcd in the 155gb partition, but i cant cause is empty!! I NEVER FORMATTED!

That's why you need to boot the app. I posted earlier.

Click the Disk at the top of the main window.

Click partition recovery in the left pane.

Do a quick scan - tick ALL the partitions you wish to keep, OK, APPLY.

grub isnt an operating system, its a boot loader, or a boot manager, you can not burn a disk from grub.

I dont understand why you cant burn it from your linux distro... you say the disk is in the drive, which one? a blank disk? or a linux CD. if its a linux cd are you running a live disk currently? if not you can take that disk out. their are generally cd burning applications in linux, if you are new to linux and looking for a real nice one with a lot integrated, low resource hogging, and simple, try linux mint. it doesnt need much to install, its built from ubuntu, its easy to use, you can get updates and software built from it the same way you can in most other distros, through the software and the package manager. try Brasero for cd/dvd burning.

But good luck with your install, hope all goes well after that, im not sure exactlly what you are trying to do, but i hope it works.
