Twice in the past two weeks i've installed a game, and on restart seen "BOOTMGR is missing".
At first I thought it was the game. But the second time it was a different game.
I've read a number of the BOOTMGR threads here, and see what I need is to have a better understanding of Disk Management. I'm posting here to confirm what it is I think I need to do...and to hopefully get confirmation about how this occurred as well.
Also relevant, is the fact that i've been learning how to use Acronis for back-up, and about my two SSD's.
Although I recently started a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 74 bit...with only the system drive connected, and later connecting each of my other drives one at a time...something has thrown off the drives position within Disk Management. And i'm sure this is from all my "secure erase" and "restore disk image" changes i've made. Please confirm if you agree. I've even switched my two SSD's so the one that was previously the system...is now a secondary used just for programs.
I've got an image of my Disk Management setup as it is now...attached here. Please have a look and confirm for me that what I need to do is make the "C" drive "active".
I'm not sure if I have to make my other SSD (D:\) _not_ active.
I'm not sure if the 100MB partition "E:\" which is already active...alleviates any need for "C" to be made active.
And most importantly perhaps...my system is back up and running again after numerous tests.
It wasn't the SATA cables, or the port on my mobo.
Everything started up fine again after I rearranged the drives in the bios. It wasn't under "Boot Settings\Boot Device Priority" that I fixed it. It was under "Boot Settings\Hard Disk Drives".
Still...why did installing games create a BOOTMGR error?
I'm assuming because Disk Management is not setup correctly. More specifically, that "C" needs to be made "active".
Please confirm if possible.
