Hi! Uh, whenever I boot up my PC like after it says my PC's name and the blue status bar loading, then after that when the page goes to activate the OS, it keeps saying choose an OS or push tab to use tools and under that is the memory test! I had to reinstall windows because some viruses got in and made my entire desktop turn blue with no icons the windows orb or anything. And whenever I try booting to my old OS instead of my newly installed one, it keeps saying some DLLs or files are corrupt! How do I make my PC just boot to my new OS?

I reinstalled the OS before this problem not when I saw this problem!

Hm, what do you mean by "when the page goes to activate the OS".

From what I can make out, you may have either, a virus or a BSOD. (blue screen of death)

Also, could you be a little more clear on what your exact problem is, you say you boot into your old OS.
does that mean you have two OS's installed?

It sounds like you attempted to activate the second fresh install but forgot to wipe the virus out first. If you find you cannot remove the virus on your own try the VIPRE Rescue Program. VIPRE Rescue - VIPRE Computer Recovery Solution from Sunbelt Software

That's a stand alone tool there that should get the first install working again by cleaning up the virus as far as Windows is concerned not other personal files that may have become polluted. When double clicking on the executable it will start off by creating a new temp folder to unpack the files into that and run from there without any new reg entries created having no installer.

If you can boot into safe mode and simply create a shortcut and reboot after normally you double click on the new shortcut to run it. It was tested recently on one system where the phoney av program turned out to be a new form of I-Worm that created a new admin account and locked the user out entirely from anything but reaching the desktop.

Once run with a shortcut the bogus admin was gone and Windows was restored to normal functions. If it works out for you there be sure to run a good few av and other malware removers to sweep the drives clean.

If you reinstall to overcome infection, you must wipe the HD first with at least one set of zeroes to overwrite infected code:

A great security tool for seeing any drive wiped totally is Eraser. Browse Eraser Files on SourceForge.net

That would also mean wiping out all of your personal files as well as anything infected. The VIPRE Resue Program on the other hand will get Windows running again where you will be able to run different av programs and malware removal tools.

If everything is already backed up and none of that has been found changed with traces of any virus or malwares the Eraser tool will work fast at nuking the drive in order to see a fresh clean install go on. That will have to be your decision there however for which route to take.

Another way to wipe the drive, requires no additional tools:

Boot Windows 7 install DVD Repair console or Repair CD, choose Command Line, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (replace # with Windows 7 HD)
CLEAN ALL (zeroes HD for deepest clean, takes about an hour per 320gb, drop "all" if you want shorter)
EXIT

Now boot back into the installer to attempt Custom install, using Drive Options to create New partition and Format.

Watch out when using the "Clean All" command if you have any other drives installed! That will wipe more then just one drive with that command!

The correct command would simply be "Clean" once the correct infected drive was selected when going to use the DiskPart option.
