Hello,

I am trying to get a Bose Soundlink Mini to connect to a Dell Latitude E7450 running Win 7 Pro SP1. I am 3 feet from the laptop.

The Bose device shows up under Devices and Printers. When I click on Troubleshoot, I receive the message "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem." I have uninstalled the device and rebooted.

It does not show up under Sound/Playback/Devices.

I tried the install as admin. I have verified that I have all the latest updates from Dell.

The Bose device does not have its own driver. I contacted Bose tech support and they verified that I have tried to install it correctly. I can connect (via Bluetooth) this Bose unit to my home computer. I followed their instructions to reset the Bose device to factory settings.

I can connect my Android phone to this laptop via Bluetooth.

Under Bluetooth Settings, I have these options checked:
Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer

Connections:
Allow all Bluetooth devices to connect...
Alert me when a new Bluetooth device wants to connect
Show the Bluetooth icon in the notification area

Device Manager
Bluetooth Radios
DW1560 Bluetooth 4.0 LE
Properties/Location: Port_#0003.Hub_#002
Driver 6.5.1.5800 7/17/14

Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
Properties/Location: On DW1560 Bluetooth 4.0 LE
Driver: 6.1.7601.17889 6/21/2006

One odd issue - Under Other devices, there is an item listed as Bluetooth Peripheral Device with a yellow !
When I tried to update the driver, I received a message that "Windows was unable to install your Bluetooth Peripheral Device"
When I uninstall that item, it reinstall when I reboot.

I do not have any other Bluetooth device nearby. And I have my cell phone turned off so that doesn't have an impact.

I spent an hour on the phone with Dell professional support and they are stumped.

So, I did a web search, found this forum and I am asking for any guidance anyone might have on ho to solve this little but annoying problem.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

Jim

Although this is an audio device, one of the installation or connectivity sections of the forum would be a better place to post this problem since its not installing/connecting.

Dell also has a forum with user experts and that is another place to consider. Dell Community

I've had Bluetooth speakers that would connect using one Bluetooth dongle but not another. I believe it has to do with what level of the Bluetooth protocol they support as well as which profiles are supported. If your Dell has built-in Bluetooth, you might wish to disable it and try a USB dongle to see if it will work any better.

Hi Jim - Were you able to resolve your original issue? I am facing the same exact issue with my laptop/Bose bluetooth headphones and no luck from Bose or Dell so far....

Appreciate your help.
Thanks!

Hi,

I guess it was a registry problem. I replaced the bluetooth transmitter with no positive result. The 'good' folks at Bose were zero help, even though my wife works there. After a lot of effort, I gave up, nuked the hard drive and reloaded everything. It isn't as easy as it used to be because Dell only gives you a USB with 'some' software on it. It is not like the old days where Dell would give you an O/S CD, a utilities CD, and an application CD. It is a bit more complicated to get the Windows applications installed.

Shame on me for assuming that our IT contractor imaged the machines before they were issued. As soon as I reloaded everything, I imaged the new drive, just in case something blows up.

Good luck with your issue.
